Who is making Max Payne 3?
Does anyone here know who is actually making Max Payne 3?

I asked around today, and nobody here seems to know. It's a Rockstar game, but that's not who is truly MAKING it.

Do we know this?

You know the Story is the big part of the game for me. They would have to do a ton wrong in the 3rd one to screw the story up for me. I just hope Mona is in it and Max get's some closure. And the game to kick ass as well.

before they were bought by Rockstar their company was called Barking Dog Studios and they made the Homeworld Addon "Cataclysm". Seems like we fans are more into the industry than some of you. Concentrated on DNF you are I know.

Oh that's a really stupid thing to say. You honestly expect everyone in the industry to know every single little detail about OTHER game companies? His job is to know everything about ONE company, 3D Realms.

Also why does it always have to come back to DNF with you?

Barking Dog also worked on the retail release of Counter-Strike.

Just throwing that out there.

Knowing Remedy isn't involved, I can't say I'm very excited about it. I trust Rockstar though, I loved most of their games.

...Why would Mona be in it? Although, I guess it depends on which ending is canon. To be honest, I took the wording of the regular ending

*SPOILERS*
to mean Max died as well. Which makes me already hate the idea of Max Payne 3. Then again, I'm just moody and short tempered about everything right now... for obvious reasons.

Why?

Rockstar knows how to deliver a game.

Remedy took a long time to deliver the first Max game, but then they quickly released the second Max game.

Now they are taking their sweet time with Alan Wake. I wonder how Microsoft feels about this?

Which will come out first, Max 3 or Alan Wake?

My bet is on Rockstar.

Well according to Joe here the first ending was Canon. He said something to that affect in the max payne 3 thread. The thing is I didnt think Max died in the first ending.

...? Max never died. It never implied Max died. In fact, at the end of MP2's credits, it said "Max Payne's journey into the night will continue."

For a bit of clarity on development time for your benefit, here's what Sam Lake has to say:
Quote:
Max Payne 1 which was a much longer project than the sequel, the script was like 150 pages and the sequel which was a remarkably shorter project the script was 650 pages and thats simply because in the sequel phase everything is clear, you know whats possible and how this thing works, naturally you know all the characters and it's much easier to create some new material for them, you don't have to stop all the time to think if this is right or wrong for this characters personality. So for a writer doing a sequel can be very fun, you don't have to think about all the technical limitations and problems when you know the deal, you can concentrate on making the story which sort of enables some extra depth.
And oh well after that you go into the scripting phase and you write the dialogue, then you already have very precise plans on what's going on in what section of the game and what kind of small forking/nonlinearity you got there what other characters you got running around under the games control what kind of lines you need for them and what kind of different situations you can expect that you have to take into account, that sort of stuff.
Again with experience from Max, you bang together as much material as you can so that at the point where they pull the script from your hand saying that they got to do the voice over work now, so thats that.
