Atomic Edition intro

Don't know if this has been brought up before, but I was wondering, what exactly happens in the intro of Atomic Edition? It's too dark to see anything. I here "Duke, we got a problem" and a woman moaning.

Duke and a curnal guy watch a tape recorded by someone undercover, the tape shows them newbeats (Protector drones) around a table with a woman lying down moaing of pain then she screams and the screan goes red.

I'm not too sure why the woman is there:

Maybe the protector drones can be born from a human host like the Alines in aliens....but thats dismissed by the fact that the Queen lays the drones so a host isn't needed.

Maybe its the birth of the Queen?.....but thats dissmissed by the fact that there are protector drones allready around the woman which can only be born from the Queen. And so you can't have protector drones without the Queen.

Maybe they were just torturing her or something - Enough of a motive for Duke to go on an asskicking spree

I always thought that she was giving birth to the queen. Maybe Joe will read this topic and reply

True but the majority of the sounds are clearly the Newbeasts
Also the aliens seen are definetly the Newbeats, I would have taken a picture but the colours come out slightly horrid.

I think if you listen carefully you might here them saying "Our queen is born!" or something. I think she was giving birth to the bitch you have to fight at the end of episode 4

Yeah but then how come there are already Newbeasts? They couldn't be born without a Queen, right?

You can also hear a Fat Commander if I recall correctly.

She's giving birth, just look at her stomach. It's huge. My guess would be that she's giving birth to the queen, as Chris Dri already said. Otherwise it just wouldn't make sense. As to where the already present newbeasts came from.. who cares Maybe they came from the alien's planet along with the rest, but they had to make a new queen because she hates to fly.

I've just "examined" some sounds, and yeah, the voice says "Our Queen is born".. So, yeah.

Well the crashed alien ship at area 51 obviously contained a newbeast (hence one being in a container.)

My guess is the Newbeasts were cloned, got free, kidnapped a random woman and got her knocked up with alien jelly.

There ya go. Problem solved, everyone is happy and Duke wins.

Would it be against the rules to ask for the atomic edition intro sequence in a video file? I wonder if i'll notice anything if I see it again. (My old Atomic edition disc got lost in a move.)

Have you noticed that the room where you appear in Episode 4, level 10, AKA "The Queen", is the same room that appears in that intro video? Look at the table, the lamp and the blood splats in the wall (probably when the Queen born the woman exploded and the blood got spread all over the place )

Yep thats the idea methinks.

Not related, but have you noticed that there are some screens in e4l1, AKA "It's impossible", that show a burning fuse from the intro of the '60s TV show "Mission impossible"?

Episode 4 is all full of easter eggs.

Except that in Duke Nukem 3Ds physics, everything is either whole, or not. when something is gonna die, it either dies. or gibs. So the woman was gibbed.

Yes im acting as if Duke3D functions under different laws of physics.

Actually a good reason that a body wouldn't be around is if the aliens ripped it up and ate it after the birthing ceremony.

^thats true too, forgot about that theory. But something tells me that maybe the species is able to change what they grow into (notice the octas and drones have the same amount of eyes), when their "mother" is about to be born, all the new octas grow as Drones.

I remember somewhere along the line that the aliens were performing "Hideous breeding experiments" and that's why they were rounding up babes. Maybe this is some sort of genetic experiment?

That could also explain the variety of aliens. The NewBeasts look nothing like the standard LizTroops, and the LizTroops don't really resemble the Enforcers, much less the Fat Commanders. And are the OctaBrains even reptillian?
