Red face Deep Six has reopened.
I have taken over Deep Six.
Currently, i'm trying to rebuild it, getting stuff to work and such. I'm also working on migrating the site to Joomla.
but for now, it has been put online again, so if anybody fels like a stroll down memory lane:
http://www.planetmaxpayne.com

Wish me luck

Nice work! Post a news post saying what's happening as well for people stumbling upon it

Oh and also email Chuck and ask him if he can map planetmaxpayne.com to Deep Six so it doesn't redirect and so all url's will be planetmaxpayne.com/blablabla.html instead of maxpayne.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/blablabla.html

Doubt he'll do it since they have a thing for their "planet" sites but since they own the domain name it could be a possibility. They did it for me when I hosted brightfalls.net on their servers for only a couple of weeks (site software didn't work on their servers and needed a tonne of customisation to get it working and since I didn't have time I went off there).

I would want to do a newspost, but I get some kind of error whenever I try to make a newspost. there are a bunch of things wrong with the site, but i'm working on getting it fixed.

I'd have to say that I never realy enjoyed this site the first time around as it had hardly any downloadable content in it's downloads sections, i.e mods & stuff, & the site was hardly ever updated, so I just didn't see the point. But perhaps you will improve on this.

Although I did find the Deep Six technical forums very helpfull, which was for Max Payne 1&2 modders ( if that site was related to this site in any way ), but sadly that site has gone now.

The site is down again for a little while. trying to update the software, and nothing seems to work as expected. good thing we've got backups.

What? Crazy.. the site was THE most updated Max Payne site on the net. We had all the latest news. I guess it all depends on when you first started visiting.

Back in 2002, 2003 it was off the hook, we would average at least 5 news stories a day iirc.

We're having a whooole bunch of problems getting the thing updated.
Right now, I can log into the backend area just fine, but the front page is not coming up even though the files and the database have been rolled back to before we started tampering with the upgrades.
Looks like the whole mambo thing is impossible to upgrade without problems, mostly because it's difficult to find the older patches without them containing errors.
it would probably have been easier if it had been two years ago or something -_-

Oh well, still trying.

Much to my teachers' dismay back when I would come to class embarrassingly late I may add! I would compulsively update the site just before having lessons in the morning!

Mariamus, I am ecstatic that you are reviving the site! So many people, myself included, poured so much effort into Deep Six over the years that to see it come back to life feels like we left some sort of legacy behind. I am going to private message you the email address of the guy who handled all things technical and who implemented Mambo in the first place. Hopefully he may help you work out a few of the kinks.

I know a lot of people put so much effort into Deep Six, which is why I decided to take over and get it back on track. Right now The people over at IGN are working really hard trying to get the mambo installation updated.

A funny co-incidence is that all of my colleagues at my office, be it artist or coder or my boss, everyone calls me "Grandpa"; as I lecture them like one in all issues. I seriously wouldn't mind to hang out with a 'slightly' old lady you see.

We're having some problems updating the Mambo installation, so it's down again until the site can be restored again.

It's not up yet. I haven't had time to work on it too much because the state says you have to apply for so and so many jobs each week when you're unemployed, and it's been taking up my time. But I start working monday, and then maybe my nights will be free instead of typing up job-applications.
All I really need is fixing the database anyway.

Christ, I remember Deep Six...

Joonas Mäkinen posted the very first public article on Payne & Redemption back in '05 on that very site. Good times!

Glad to see it back up and running.

EDIT: Has the article on P&R been removed? I wasn't able to find it...
