No true widescreen mode...oh well. September's right around the corner! Music sounds great, graphics still look cool, and it's really fast. I can't think of a single type of gamer that wouldn't plunk down 800/1200 points for this when you consider some of the truly wretched garbage out there...

The widescreen option is the only thing that has disappointed me. But, hey, it's duke3d - I can live with it

You can also turn off the sidebar art if you prefer to just have black.

Look for 3 more previews today from IGN, TeamXBox and OXM.

I'm so going to see if I can do hollywood holocaust in 11 seconds. I've done it before ... or was it 12 seconds?

...awesome. I was hoping the guy playing would fire the shotgun...I haven't played Duke 3d in many, MANY years and I miss the wicked sound it made...

Doubt it was 11 or 12. George and I spent some extensive time on speed runs during development.

...a question George since you're here: If (like I need to say IF!) Duke 3D sells incredibly well would you guys consider porting over some of your other IP's?

...I don't know much about business, but I do know that making money is the primary goal and if this port took little time and resources then you guys could have a cash cow on your hands

I have a question about one of those screenshots (the control layout)

A run button? Do have to push down on the right analog stick to run? Is there an autorun option?

I know ya'll are going to hate me for this.... buuuuut

I HOPE its where you have to press it. Honestly, console based FPS on XBL is no fun when they have/are autorun. The fast games are just too much.

I used to love the fast gameplay but I've grown out of it unfortunately, as has most of the FPS players these days.

I haven't. Halo 3 speed is all well and good when I play Halo 3. But I want speed when I play Duke3d.

If there's an auto-run in Duke3D, then I'll always have it turned on

I have a hard time having to use the 360's joysticks while they're depressed, so I'd rather have an auto-run than have to press a button

I've done it before, too. The console players will have no chance in the time trials against people who have been playing this for years on the PC. Note that I do not include myself in the speedrun champ category, as the only one I can do quick is HH.

It's probably going to be a whole other deal with a gamepad though.

It will be a bit of a challenge, that's for sure I play most of my FPS games with a gamepad now ( I have a shit computer) but I've never played Duke3d with a control pad.

HH doesn't require too much precision. As long as you can side strafe, quick times should be possible. I just tried it several times, though, and the best I could get was 15 secs.

What? You always could look up and down in Duke3D.

That timeline feature makes me want to buy a X360. Too bad.

Looked neat.. I saw some guy on ShackNews commenting that he was eagerly awaiting a PC port though... A bit sad.

The looking up and down thing seemed to look exactly like it did 12 years ago or am I mistaken? Too bad something like Polymost wasn't coded in

8-bit sprites are 8-bit sprites no matter how many bits the graphics engine uses. Polymost wouldn't have done a whole lot unless there was an update on the graphics themselves, which there obviously wasn't because 3DR has some other graphics they still need to make

I was referring to the 360 version. PC will be slightly faster due to control interface.

Maybe it's the video resolution, or my memory being tricky, but is that a new damage effect when you get hit..? It seems to blur slightly...

Anyways, cool news, i'm happy this is going to be available to such a big new audience...
