Did I ever say that? I don't think so. I'm just speaking my mind... my opinion. At this point, I have given up all hope of 3D Realms ever releasing this game on "schedule." Whether it phases 3DR one bit or not doesn't matter (and I know it won't). And I know chances are not a single word of my post will reach them. But it does not change the fact that they're losing on a potential sale... MONEY... and is that what every company wants *not* to happen? I believe so.

Well said. Admittedly, the only reason I am posting here is that I was once a huge Duke fan, waited a decade for Forever with absolutely nothing coming of it. Obviously, my Duke adrenaline is running low, as other things have emerged and stole my interest. Like I said, I will still (only casually) watch out for the game, but my drive to actually go on through the game is mostly diminished (unless the game can prove itself to be godly, and NOT require Vista). In other words... for 3DR to get a sale from me, they'd better get some beyond-platinum reviews. While it was once (for at least six years) a must-buy for me, it is now no more than a "wait-and-see" game that may be good, but may just as well be a massive let-down to fans after all the promises and delays.

Wow. Am I actually seeing this correctly? Let me spell it out for you, in easy-to-understand language:

$$$

Conclusion:

Either way, I would *like* to still consider myself a Duke fan, but with all the neglect, delays, and outright disappointments, it's beginning to be hard to even trust 3D Realms in the first place. Having been a Nintendo fan for as long as I can remember, I have realized that even *they* can amaze me and keep me as a fan, no matter how hard it can be. I am not seeing the same qualities from 3DR, unfortunately. All I keep seeing are decade-long promises that never become fulfilled... NEVER.

Did you even read my post? You're the living proof that the DNF fans that were there 10 years ago do NOT represent a big percentage of the "$$$" 3DR could earn from releasing the game now or in a couple years.

If you're not a duke fan or if you're so tired of waiting, why the hell you come here and post useless whinning? You're not the only one thinking that way and EVERYONE knows that, so let's stay on the thread topic, shall we?.

I would definetely pay more for extras. Maybe a Special Edition of DNF containing Duke 3D Atomic Edition and a big-ass documentary about the development of the game with live interviews with George Broussard and the rest of the team or even Jon St. John!

hell yeah!! if duke 4 ever comes with a making of cd, it should contain about 6-7 discs of stuff. well worth the extra ten bucks. we'd get to see from quake 2 all the way to quake 4 and the birth of unreal and maybe a look at shadow warrior. by now, those guys designing the game then would have their hair cuts almost be out of date by now. damn, i can't wait for this game.

i would definitely pay more for extras. as others have said i would love to get a copy of the original make of the game that we saw a clip of in 2001, i would also like to hear The story from 3DR about all the troubles they had run into and stuff while making the game and a thorough explanation of why it has all taken quite so long just so i could further understand why it did, so maybe they could release a dvd with dnf showing the making of and troubles etc. and a model of duke that has a button and he says a bunch of old school phrases when you push it.

^There is a Scarface keyring for sale, that has about 6 buttons or so, and each button uses one of the quotes from the movie. Maybe something like this for a collectors edition would do the trick, especially if it was too expensive to manufacture models with the different quotes. Just a thought.

I think it'd be nice if they'd throw in a little something extra(besides the game) for free. In-game commentary by GB and key contributors or maybe the previous Duke Nukem side scrollers...it doesn't have to be an overly expensive extra to add, just something to say,'Hey, sorry about screwing around the last 10 years, thanks for sticking with us...and for sticking it to us!'.

For me to pay more for something like a Collector's Edition they'd have to throw in more than just a tin and a fake coin. A full-sized artbook, a making of DNF DVD, DNF soundtrack on CD, and a DNF action figure(preferably made by McFarlane's company). For that I could see myself paying a premium - $79.99(assuming the regular edition goes for $49.99).

In gs forums there was posted a great idea that when the game comes out (if that heappens ofcourse) there would be 'making of' dvd' included. Now that would be worth the money alone
What do you think?

Re: DNF "making of" dvd
I, personally would kill to an in depth book/dvd shipping with the game and showing us the stages of developement, how the game progressed from on stage to the next.

that would be totally kick ass.

they'd be stupid not to do it, if any game's developement warrants a documentation, it is DNF no doubt.

Yeah, this has be brought up many times. Didn't Riddick for the PC have a a developer commentary mode? When you hit certain points in the game, the developers would talk about it? I always thought that was a cool idea.
