No sound, graphic issues and poor performance
I get no sound when I play the demo and this weird graphical issue. It looks like a crosshair but it segments the display into 4 but only the top right segment has any texture rendered onto it. I'm also getting strange frame rates i.e 2-3 fps then it runs at 50-60 but if I face a light it crawls again. I've tried different settings even 400 x 600 and low detail but to no avail. I've updated my sound and video drivers and used driver cleaner as well. My sys was reinstalled 2mnts ago and runs fine. I've tried looking for spyware and viruses but found nothing, I;m totally stumped and no one else seems to have the same problem as me. Please help I really want to play this game. My specs are as follows:
XP2600 Barton @ 2300Mhz (rock solid with prime 95)
Abit NF7s v2 with latest bios
Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB (not overclocked)
1024MB Geil Ram @ 6,3,3,2.5

This system plays Quake 4, Doom3, HL2, TOCA2, GTR, COD2 at playable frame rates at 1024,768 on good settings No AA or AF

Try disabling you and see if it fixes your frame rates, CTRL+ALT+~ s_noSound 1. What is your sound card?

very odd..

It sounds like a soundcard and video card problem. I think you will have to upgrade before you can play the game without problems.

My sound is onboard realtek alc650 or ac97 (nforce2 ultra400 chipset)

Wow, that is messed up! I've never seen anything like that before. You could try turning all the settings down in the options. I really don't know what that could be. Also make sure your vsync is off. You could try setting r_renderer to r200 or arb and see what happens. Those aren't supported paths so you won't really want to play the game in them but if the grey boxes go away that could be a hint.
