Cool 2 BIG fixes for Prey
This is how I got the Prey demo working.

1. Demo crashes on startup and says "Prey has run into an error and must be shut down."

When I downloaded a Rise of Legends demo, the same error occurred at startup. I knew it was way too coincedental to be both games' fault.

You must download the latest Nforce AUDIO drivers. http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_audio_4.31_win2KXP
The Nforce motherboard drivers WILL NOT FIX THIS. You MUST download the audio drivers separately. This fix is for people with Nforce motherboards. People with other motherboards, likewise download specific Audio drivers for your system.

(Problem 2 applies to the demo only)
2. The game shows a Prey background before crashing back to the desktop, and says "Couldn't load dynamic library."

Answer: I believe this applies to the demo only. This answer comes from MichealLong: Try this: Right click on the shortcut you use to start Prey, and select Properties. Then change the Start In: field to C:\PROGRA~1\PREYDE~1
Then click OK. Try running that shortcut and see if it will launch now.

Let me know if this helps anyone.

Re: 2 BIG fixes for Prey
So I found out my fixes were not as "big" as I thought. The error I had was (I guess) unique to my system.
