Damn, we should have done that -- seeing that we had done that in our previous games to make them kid friendly. In hindsight, that's a serious oversight ... not sure why we didn't think to do it.

I like the PC interface better the hawk eye makes the game seem no alien at first. Also there was no spirit realm (the one where you shoot ghost) in the demo, is that supposed to be like that.

of course, it's part of the game.

you go into spirit realm when you actually DIE in the game.

I love the PC demo and play it online everyday, it runs constant 60fps with no lag , But I downloaded 360's version and could not believe how horrible it ran online , jerky movements and what appears to be a very high ping on any servers ive tried . This must be fixed in the final version! Single player isnt to shabby and looks great on my HDTV but 30fps feels alittle choppy after being used to PC's 60fps.

The multiplayer of prey was immensely laggy at first when the PC demo was released as well. It took a while before people running servers on something other than a USB toaster appeared to fix that issue. Now multiprey runs really quite well, but it certainly didn't at first.

Re: Prey 360 Demo Now available on Xbox Live Marketplace
The demo looking "visuals" great!! Looked great on my (LG 37" LCD HDTV) But is this from same build as gold version?? Because there are many issues with this. A lot of "loading" times where the screen studders badly in 0.5-1.5 seconds.. This is also different from area to area. Sometimes the demo runs perfectly, and then yet again some areas where the framecount feels like its dropping down to 15+fps area??? Of course if we compare that a pc has 256-512mb video ram + 1-2gb system ram, and xbox 360 only has 512mb unified ram. So if we think about that the game is really running wonderfully "comparing".. But there is still some work for you guys to do... But i Loved the demo once again, now i have played both 360 and pc versions through. I must say the pc demo feels much better, better quality overall(not only gfx), so i think its gonna be pc version for me. So thx for a great game...

One more thing, shouldnt 360version also have savegames that would work with the full version??? Coz i couldnt save in the whole demo game?? Or is it only on pc!!? And the zoom on the first sniper weapon, why is the zoom like in stages, you cant hold down the button and the zoom will zoom in, now instead you have to push the shoulder buttons many times to zoom out, zoom in... That is kind of lame, feels wrong...?? But maybe its already adjustable.. didnt try so many different changes...

So conclusion: Prey Looks better than Quake 4 on 360, but plays almost identical looking FPS flow:vise... So im little dissapointed, hoped for better performance... But hey this is great for those with crappy pc´s. Excellent option for them.

Yeah but if you think about it, Xbox live is hosting the servers, hosting the filedownloads, and all other downloads and games... So its alot to do in the same time... Try MP tomorrow, or the day after that. It should have calmed down til then. Should get better lan experiance. I never play x-live on a day with some big releases... always bad lag..

PS. Sorry for double posting

Could People stop complaining about the freaking demo!

come up with something more constructive to talk about, the demo's out now.

HH I respect the hard work that you guy's have put into this game and am looking forward to playing it.

And as for the slight technical issue of lag, the server's are packed with gamers having fun (not complaining). I am shure that being new to 360 will also have a few thing's to do with it and will be running smoothly as soon as possible and not anytime before.

Oh and 3Drealms use the id trick "it will be done when it's done" next time.

Enjoy!

Re: Prey 360 Demo Now available on Xbox Live Marketplace
360 demo is smooth. Thank god that MS fixed xbl so you can play a game while your waiting for downloads. Geometry wars is a great way to kill time. What was interesting to me is I couldn't see the difference between the 360-30 frames vs the pc-60 frames per second. If someone wouldn't have mentioned it I would have never known. (1.6million geometry wars)

*interface. The regular use of the guns was fine. The zoom function with the controller was not so fine. I felt the mouse had a better movement while using the zoom feature to snipe. If I had to pick what was better I would go with the pc for overall control. Don't read into this and think the 360 controls are bad. They are not. The snipe is just not as accurate.

If I had to break the controls down the whole way it would be like this.

movement-advantage 360
crouch/lighter-advantage 360
snipe-advantage pc*
overall aim-advantage pc*
grenades-tie
spirit walk-advantage 360
change weapons-tie

*Since the emphasis is on shooting you can see why I say the pc has a slight edge. Then again you can overcome the aim with better movement...

I should think so! 25 fps is approximately beyond depth of human perception, in other words anything occuring at a rate higher than this will not be visible with a human eye.

I love Geometry wars too, I play it every day. I hit 2.7mill today.

Where do you people get these numbers from? I swear that everytime I read this everyone always uses a different number.

Read this: http://www.100fps.com/how_many_frame...humans_see.htm

Wow, It amazes me when people claim they cant tell the difference between 30 and 60fps , The difference is so easily noticeable! If I were put in front of a monitor and asked "is this game running 30 or 60 fps" I would be willing to bet a large sum of money on giving the correct answer. I could tell the 360 demo was running 30fps immediately.

Humans can absolutely tell between 30 and 60 fps. People get hung up on the "movies are 24 fps" thing. The key thing for framerate is consistency. Consistent 30fps looks better than 60 fps that bogs to 20fps reguarly.

I proved that to one of my friends by challening him to play Jedi Outcast with me. He would have all the graphics on high and I would set everything I low. I think I had something like ~120FPS and he was around ~29-34FPS. Needless to say on a big open map with hitscan weapons the games were an absolute massacre. To eliminate player skill, we then reversed roles and low and behold, when he had the higher FPS he could see me more easily, track my movements easier and made hitting me much simpler. A consistent high FPS rate is much better than an inconsistent low FPS rate.

Higher FPS is better in general for percieving your enemy and makes the game easier to play [less motion sickness for example].
