Apogee 3dr games in Windows 7
from the games i own from the current 3dr store These game run in windows 7 x64.

Duke Nukum
Duke Nukem II
ROTT
Cosmo
Commander Keen 1-5
Balls of Steel

The GOG.com games install but do not regester as msnd spec to the games explored so the cover art is broken but the titles do all play. DNMP will by default auto install in to the games folder a a legacy title without boxart as it did in vista. The 3dr store files do not include the GDF files needed to load in to that folder.

What? My install files were tested in Windows 7, and didn't have a problem.

I believe he is referring to the Windows Games Explorer (?).

I meant the Games folder as Microsoft now calls it. the games work but windows will only auto load DNMP in to the folder. BOS should load but does not show up as a legacy windows game the dosbox based ones will not be inserted to to windows only seeing dosbox.exe.

That wasn't part of the spec when I remastered them for Windows. I just needed to create icons, and make sure they ran, which they did. As for interfacing with something like "Windows Games Explorer".. Didn't have time (nor the inclination) to learn how to do that.

Re: Apogee 3dr games in Windows 7
was not complaining about that since i can build the dll files. Myself but i wanted others to know that windows has no way of figuring out what dos games with dosbox running all windows will see is dosbox.exe not dosbox.exe running wolf3d.exe. I persionally blame micorsoft for sticking the tool to build them in the directx sdk rather then the windows one. The function is very reliant on developers actually using it. gog.com did not support it to the spec with the early titles and now seem to be working on fixing the installs to work right with windows. all of the gog games i have lost the box art.

I haven't had all of these sort of problems, whether with Cosmo or the other paid programs on 3DR. DOSbox seems to want to install everything under C:/ directory , but I have never minded that. I have spent hours here and there trying to reconcile the DOSbox programs to work within the windows game menu system, but I always open up DOSbox to run whichever program I wished. In this way I skirted the issue without really understanding what I was doing. It works if you don't mind opening a seperate program (the front-end) every time you wish to access your Win32/DOS porograms. Personally, I don't often use the games explorer since the box art is gone and adding programs to the start list is a bit tedious. Win7 Pro has a much different focus on the included programs (i.e no included games on installation). I like to run Cosmo from the Cosmo directory on the program menu. I don't do a lot of stuff in an intuitive way, since I am the only one using the system, but I do like to tweak the DOSbox folder in order to make things easier to use in my front-end, D-Fend Reloaded. I guess I am talking past the subject, but I just wanted to share.

dosbox consiters the folder you mount to be the c: drive that is to preserve compatbilty between the program and how it wants to see the drive.

DOSBox really helps. Especially for XP and Vista. I recommend it. But it would be cool to like port the DOS games of Apogee to Windows 7.
