Happy Birthday Max Payne!
Today is July 25, 2006. Five years ago was July 25, 2001. On that date, v1.0 of the registered version of Max Payne was released. Happy birthday Max!

It hardly seems like five years have passed, but they have. Since that date,a few incarnations of Max Payne have been released:

* Max Payne 1 (PC, Xbox, PS2, & Mac)
* Max Payne 2 (PC, Xbox, & PS2)
* Max Payne Gameboy Advance

But today we're here to celebrate the orignal Max Payne's release. When it was new, the game caused quite a stir with it's unique look and storyline, not to mention the rather (at the time) new Bullet Time feature in videogames.

If you own the game, why not get it out, and give it a spin in honor of it's fifth birthday? If you don't own the game, there's several options available to you. You can download the demo, buy the game, or you could win a free one! That's right, in honor of the 5th anniversary of Max Payne, we are giving away 50 free copies of the full version of Max Payne 1 (for the PC).

Here's how to get your free copy.

The first 50 people to send in an email in response to this post will get a free copy of Max Payne 1 for the PC sent to them. All you need to do is send Bryan Turner an email at [email protected] and include your name and address. That's it.

After the first 50 people are signed up, that's it - we'll post back when they're all gone. This is open to everyone, you do not have to be in the US to get a copy. But hurry!
- They're gone.

You can read the rest of our Max Payne Birthday Celebration news on our main website here:

Thanks to Remedy, GOD Games and 3DR for such a great title.

As a matter of fact, I was just playing Max Payne recently.

No, I can't - I don't generally get involved in that side of the business. I genuinely don't know.

Well, you can safely say that at least one copy was sold. I bought it when it first came out, finished it, then lent it to my friend. Who then promptly moved to Saskatchewan. Never got it back, lol. I do have Max Payne 2 though, shootdodging is the best game feature ever (sadly, even better than portals).

Sales doesn't have anything to do with the discounted console pricing/naming on Xbox/PS2. It has to do with games that don't sell anymore, and get their price reduced.

I remember playing it for the first time (actually someone showed it to me), I was a big n00b back then but I was impressed by the stylish gameplay within seconds. Slowmo felt soooo cool and fresh back then
