Almost like Duke...
Hey guys. I've released a map for Powerslave/Exhumed last summer. You could try it out if you haven't already I know it isn't Duke Nukem, but it's in Build Map Version 6 which had some really interesting features (while Duke is Version 7).

Map is here: http://www.fileplanet.com/hosteddl.a...dt/elgizah.zip

Mikko forgot to mention that this map works with the demo versions which are available for free. I am also uploading three screenshots. Sorry for the quality, but it's a Dosbox under OpenGL - the original game didn't have the screenshot feature Anyway you can try it out because it's probably the only usermap for this game plus it required some tricks and guessing while there is no source code, no faq, nothing. Thanks.

Your comments are welcome, but please remember that this map was made in 2001... Mikko Sandt zipped this map for me (and The Chinese Secret for DN3D too) and he probably cleared the dates. Why? Dunno.

This game had so much potential, I wish it had better quality and was more moddable.

Playstation version was simply better. But in those times no PC engine could match the original...

I just tried this level. It's been so long since I played Powerslave I forgot all about the Life Force, health berries and the auto save (Which I did not like, I want to save now!) Anyway it looks like a cool level. I kept getting killed when I entered the first building so I'm doing something wrong. LOL I think I will play a few levels of the original game to get back into it then give your level another try.

Edit: Okay, I figured out what I was doing wrong and had no major problems after that. It was a lot of fun. Nice job.

I already downloaded and played this map months ago, got it from Mikko Sandt´s site.

Cool map

Question: am i recalling correct and you made this level using build and then used the version transformer to get from build 7 to build 4? Or you have any kind of Build for Powerslave than we dont know?

Re: Almost like Duke...
Unfortunately there is no original Build included on the Powerslave CD... The one & only advantage of having a CD is the music, taken almost directly from the PSX version. And Gambini, you're right. I used Ken Silverman's backmap6.exe. If he searched his stuff, he would find the Build Version 6 editor probably, but making Ken do something is hard, believe me

Anyway, thanks for your kind comments. The map isn't a masterpiece, but there were three things which just didn't allow for more spectacular architecture:
1. The 4096 wall limit;
2. Slowdowns in the executable (try to use M60 in the big temple);
3. Hassle with spritework (Most textures weren't centered or weren't real squares like texture size 127x126).

Oh and BTW. The game is in Map Version 6. Who knows maybe the Powerslave CD contains the editor, but I higly doubt (Exhumed CD does not). It seems the 3D Realms was the first company cool enough to share their tools with players...

Yeah, but I was asking him to give me the Shadow Warrior source code or to remove the 1024 sectors limit from Duke exe But on the other hand he wasn't interested in fixing the texture bug in project which he invited me for... But he is our guru, right? Right.

Because someone didn't send the files zipped and therefore forced me to create copies of all three individual files.

Wow, wow 5 stars Yeah, game is tough due to slowdowns, lack of normal save, ultra slow strifing. I know that a few guys had problems with the army of mummies at the end. But you could just lure them and then kill one by one.
