The unofficial SWHRP
Okay homies, I've been asked to put together an HRP for SW, based upon the available textures and models. I've gone through the Model and Texture threads, getting all the available models and textures I could. If you happen to have a model or texture not in the HRP, please upload it and let me know, so I can add it to the next version.
The link is to a yousendit download. The size of the ZIP file is around 16 megs. You should be able to simply unzip it to your SW folder and go from there. If there are any problems, please, let me know. If there are any comments, suggestions, please let me know. Here it is! |

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Thanks, but is it 16MB only? The latest version (http://www.proasm.com/sw/swdls.html) was 25MB.

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Like I said, I went through the threads and got what I could.
Many things were no longer downloadable. I'm dl'ing the 25 meg one right now, and am going to merge the two, going through and adding what I don't already have, and then I'll re-upload it. Thanks for the link, I was not able to find one to the latest HRP, and the newest one I had before I put all the stuff together was version 1.2... No just have to wait for the file to DL... |

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
If you guys want to I could host the file on edge files once you guys have found all the old files again.
P.S. the file linked to earlier works now. |

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
I have it all together again. I just have to upload it, but I have to wait until later tonight.
If you could upload it to edge files, that would be great Parkar! Now we just need more people working on SW stuff... |

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Some one just uploaded a new pack in the retexturing thread, with 900 files.
The one I have is 905, so either he has things set up a little different, or he just doesn't have the ones that I have added. Here is the newest version of the pack, all the textures and models that I have. The link will last 7 days, so could someone upload it again for me? Thanks. |

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
I compared swhrp-20070106.zip with sw_highres_1-05-07.zip (posted on the re-texturing thread). If you downloaded swhrp-20070106.zip here are some textures:
http://www-personal.umich.edu/~jimw/...p-20070106.zip If you downloaded sw_highres_1-05-07.zip here are some textures: http://www-personal.umich.edu/~jimw/...es_1-05-07.zip I did not update textures.def for either of these so unzip whichever you need in a temp directory first so you can see what to add to your copy of textures.def (just a handful of PNGs). Both packs are now in sync. |

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Some of the skyboxes are different between the packs. sw_highres_1-05-07.zip has several duplicate textures (.jpg and .png) such as 0256 because I never decided which look better ingame. They should really be deleted to maintain a standard canon pack.
swhrp-20071016.zip has a few model skin duplications and thumbnail files, thus the file count is similar and the .zip size is different. |

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Guys come on. Either work together or don't bother. We don't need 2 versions fighting for supremacy.
That said, thanks for the effort in maintaining and updating the old HRP and i look forward to new versions.

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Oh and you should probably follow the HRP scheme that i started or at least base your updates from it. Its v1.7b and can be found on ProASMs site. As far as i can tell there really isn't a massive amount its missing, just the handful of files thats been posted over the last 6 months or so.

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Well, I just posted what thought was the most up to date pack because I was asked to. As far as the scheme of the HRP, I don't think it really matters, and I like how the format is now, but... I think I'll just let someone else take it over from here, so there is no fight for a superior pack, and you people can deal with the format, what textures are used, etc.

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Deth, i'm sure the SW fans love the new pack and its great you are putting the time in for others. I just felt totally confused when i visited here only to find 2 diff packs, both with multiple versions out both claiming to have downloaded the official one (that i made) but actually both basing their pack on a old version... And then there were some extra textures uploaded by someone for each pack based off diff dates etc etc... Very messy. And mine is most certainly not official. I don't think there can be such a thing
I didn't want to stop anyone doing these, i am as grateful as the rest here, but i do think you should team up and make a definitive pack. Claim it to be complete and make semi regular updates available. An active HRP will prompt people to work on textures again which can only be a good thing I personally do not have the time any more but do always keep an eye out here to see whats grooving and it would be great if more people became a bit more active.

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Well, if the two packs are the same besides a few textures being doubled, I guess I can go through mine and clean it up...
As far as I know, they are up to date, but if I could get a link to the HRP before the one I uploaded, that would be cool, so I could check and see if anything is missing. As far as two packs being uploaded, I don't really know what to say. I made mine and uploaded it, then someone else made one up. If that person wants to take control or work together, either way is fine with me. EDIT: Also, would it be possible to get some higher res skyboxes? Having 256x256 just seems wrong, it's ugly and I don't think it's much of an improvement over the original skies (sp?).

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Hey Deth, I don't want control of anything. I uploaded those textures (in the wrong thread) in response to a request for a pack. It was only later that I noticed this thread and downloaded the pack you put together. My apologies for any confusion I caused. If you have the time to maintain a HRP. more pwer to you and thanks. - Jim

The last HRP i did is on Proasm's site. http://www.proasm.com/sw/swdls.html I don't have the higher res skyboxes but i can tell you WHY the ones in the Hrp were made 256*256. Very large outdoor based maps could be very slow and VERY crash happy with skyboxes of a higher res. I do however agree that the ones i included are rubbish but i had poor 512*512 skyboxes to work from. I would suggest, if you can, getting some really good high res ones and converting them to 256*256 and then including them at 512*512 for the user to use if he so decides. Write up some instructions on how to add them in (which should be as easy as overwriting the 256*256 ones) and leave the user to use them at his own peril. Hope this helps and i do look forward to a new complete up to date pack.

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Okay, I checked through quickly last night and did not see any doubles in my folders. I will go through with a fine tooth comb today.
I'll have to find out who has the original skyboxes, and see if I can get the 512x512 versions as well. I'm downloading the pack on Proasm's site right now, and just have to wait for it to finish... cursed DSL being so slow... I'll see what I can get done today, but I won't make any promises since I will be busy with band practice later tonight. Edit: I dl'd the pack on Proasm's site, and it didn't work. The zip file is corrupt, either that, or I've had two bad dl's. I tried windows little unzip thing, and winrar. Edit2: I got it, and am unzipping it right now.

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Okay, I went through, and checked for doubles, and rearranged things that were in the wrong folders. I'm going to go through more stuff tonight, but I don't think releasing the pack right now is worth it, seeing as how there are only about 8 new textures.

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Well, I'll test it on the crappy dell at I have and see how bad it slows it down, if I do get the 512x512 textures.

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Nevertheless, we saw less crashes on one particular map when using the lower res sky textures. And the problem, whatever it is, seems to only effect very large outdoor maps.

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
Which would require a few more textures, and maybe a model or two.
I don't want to appear as if I'm just lazy, but I don't see the point in putting a new pack up with only 4 new textures. I might do some textures myself, but it would be nice if others could contribute! *can't wait until Duke HRP is finished so the SW one can really get going* |

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
I am aware of this, but there are only seven textures that I know of that are not already in the HRP.
I think at least 20 would be needed for a new release... I've done two today, so there only needs to be 11 more. |

Re: The unofficial SWHRP
A post in the texture thread might kick out some action. I found that if you are proactive then other users will be too. something like...
"I'm 10 textures short for the next HRP release, is anyone working on any ?" or maybe even let people know you are intending to maintain a HRP and that you would like a certain number of updates each time before you "knock one out"
