For those of you who do not now, I challenged FPSMaster to a match in Duke3d, in which the stakes were high--- The loser was fired from Grape's Thoughts.

That loser was me, I lost by a score of 10 to 4...

This whole experience has shown me that online gaming is pointless, if I lose to a lamer like FPSMaster (in a match and I lose my job) what's the point of playing online at all?

I'll just address some of your points--
1) Sith, I didn't write the 'dtlastwords' part where the prank was revealed, that was Grape. I think he gave Foo credit because he was the first to catch on-- From the posts, it appeared that the rest of you were basically saying, "yeah maybe you're right" after he questioned us. Foo was the guy to make that first step and call us on our little show
2) Come on guys, Grape would NEVER hire a lamer like FPSMaster... I was amazed so many of you bought it for sooo long
3) I'd really really really like to thank everyone for standing up for me and supporting me during this prank, you guys are so cool I actually felt real bad tricking all of you. Damn, you guys are nice
4) But, the fact that you all believed I got beat THAT BADLY... Heh, jeez, there was an obvious clue that this was faked. (patting myself on back )
5) I was very surprised at how many of you thought this was a publicity scam... Very surprised. I'm a prankster, not a scam artist. --I was also surprised that so many peeps said it was a scam, but didn't even think about April Fools! Oh well, it was all in good fun.
6) Props go to Sith and Fool both for questioning the gag, (tho I think we had you both tricked), and to anyone else who didn't fall for it.
7) HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!!!

Hmm.. what to say. This was a pretty clever joke, but pissing people off for several days before 4/1/99 isn't really that funny.

It's like Romeo and Juliet, her deep sleep drug lasts just a bit too long, and look what happens, Romeo kills himself.

And it was probably disrupting people lives when you argue back and forth by e-mail.

ANYWAYS, any plans to redesign Grape's Thoughts? It needs it bad because there are a lot of miss-alignments in Netscape (the best browser )

Uncle Duke, this was a once-a-year kind of thing. Lighten up, it's April Fools.

Illusion, planning in advance was the best way to rope people into thinking it was real and therefore fooling them. To enjoy a joke, you really have to have a good sense of humor.
For those of you who are angry about it, I apologize, but please rest assured that this is not something that's going to happen every other day or anything. April Fools is a special occasion, and I (we) probably won't do anything next year because I (we) can't really top this prank.
My words of advice: Just laugh and enjoy the holiday, 'k?

I'm disappointed in you and grape. Not for the prank, which was rather creative, but for giving FooFighter all the credit for being the only one to speculate it was a scam. I focussed on the point of it being a way to get hits, but I still had the same suspision as FF, yet I get no reconition Esh, nice prank, but I still says Foo getting all the attention instead of sharing it is still lame :P (Hey, I like getting credit when credit is due)

I'd say it was The Grape who gave it away. If it weren't for his exaggerated enthusiasm in a match he was not taking part in, I might have been fooled. Then again, if it weren't for his hyping, there would have been no joke in the first place.

Situations like this (real ones) happen under different circumstances, and are very rarely publicly announced beforehand. The publicizing of the match was what gave it away. Ironic isn't it?
