Quake 4's already been in. The more you think about it; biggest gaming franchise just doesn't fit with Prey at all. I really don't think a whole hell of a lot of people will even know what Prey is. Especially younger gamers. I didn't know that much about it till I started coming here.

George or someone from 3DR may have done an interview with the magazine. They would have obviously asked about DNF. Maybe George threw them a bone and they genuinely do have something to announce on DNF. So they created that blurb and we might get a paragraph at best about DNF in a 2-4 page preview of Prey.

I think that's possible. Doubtful. But possible.

Just some food for thought. What if the advertisement for a level creator was in reference to Prey (not DNF) and that the hype of Prey is actually hyping DNF (which is closer to release than Prey). It would be a much cooler surprise if you think about it. That way, DNF gets the exclusive....Prey is covered in a few paragraphs leaving the rest of the hype for Prey to speculation in the forums (much like DNF). I know that sounds backwards, but it is just another thought.

Either way, I think both will be covered in the issue. My thought above may be just a dumb idea, but I like leaving the door open to possibilities.

I changed my mind. I realize now that Human Head would have advertised for a level designer much like they did in October:

Hm. I would actually not be surprised if it is DNF. I just got a distinct impression that they need level designers more for Prey than DNF at this point. Maybe they have gotten to the point of help for just finish polishing. I think they said they would announce DNF about 6 months before release (like others mentioned here). Just in time for Christmas 2005 would not be too far fetched would it?

I was just thinking of something mentioned by GB that said something like 'you have been waiting for quite a while. We will have to do something about that'. Besides what George said was that we would know when the game is WID, not when it was going to be announced/previewed', right? Oh, here I go getting all excited again like so many times before.

At best, they'll be some combined DNF/Prey info.

Sheesh guys, HOW many times has PC Gamer used Duke Nukem Forever to sell their rag? Anyone remember the partial Nuke symbol and big issue way back? I never did find out what game that was, but it sure hinted at DNF... as they do all the time and as they are doing now.

I don't trust anything they say anymore and won't spend a dime on their rag.

EVERY TIME they say something that sounds DNFish... a thread pops up and people get their hopes up (and PC Gamer probably sells more issues).

As for news regarding DNF, I will only trust that if it is posted on the front page of the 3DR website. As should you all do!!!

NEVER EVER trust the media for news. Most of that is just attempts to sell their stuff and/or earn money.

This just proves that it is Prey and not DNF. Prey has been as far as we knew dead for several years. It was a huge thing when it was first started so now it is back and so it is a big franchise. Though I could be wrong.

Tomb Raider Legend is coming, however pretty much everyone seems to know it already, it's all over the web, so it doesn't seem exactly a 'world exculsive', but then you've said PC Gamer exaggerated that. The franchise that's returning in PC Gamer is Tomb Raider.

That fits the bill, if you ask me. Even up to and including the usual stupid amount of hyperbole. You know 'Triumphant Return!'... but it's only been six months? 'Yes, but it's a return! And Triumphant!'

If Prey(confirmed) and DNF both in the PCG, then DNF will greatly overshadow Prey. It's not so good for HH and 3dR. Prey needs hype, DNF is always megahyped, just throw a bone.

i'm sorry but "prey" is not an established "franchise", let alone "one of the biggest" in pc gaming. the freaking game has never been out!

now i'm not down on "prey" at all, i'm pumped as hell for the game.

my issue is with pc gamer magazine and their continued double talk and flat out misleading news previews.

this is why fans here are debating whether it's prey or dnf. don't get pissed off at fans who think it may be dnf. the only triumphant pc game making it's return would be a duke game imho.

pc gamer could have easily worded that blurb to give a hint about prey without invoking dnf.

"in our next issue, we have the world exclusive news on a pc game that has risen from the dead and is ready
to finally make it's debut. have your "prayers" been answered?"

"prayers" is an obvious wink at "prey".
"risen from the dead" is another clue as everyone basically thought "prey" was indeed dead.

bah whatever.

i'm gonna go to pc gamer headquarters and straighten shit out over there.

If Prey is ramped up in PC Gamer before DNF dont you think that is a bit of a kick in the teeth.

3DR said they would finish DNF before starting anything else, even if someone else does Prey they still must have a lot of input!!

The term "franchise" means a series of games. Prey has never even been one game.

KaiserSoze	Re: June PC Gamer exclusive? pc gamer are a bunch of nimtards. i realize they have to sell magazines but i'm sick and tired of them using duke fans for hype. they've done this one too many times in the past strongly hinting their "exclusive" was duke nukem forever when it's something else. there is no way in hell "prey" fits what pc gamer writes here: "One of the biggest franchises in PC gaming makes its triumphant return, and we'll have all the details." i'm sorry but "prey" is not an established "franchise", let alone "one of the biggest" in pc gaming. the freaking game has never been out! now i'm not down on "prey" at all, i'm pumped as hell for the game. my issue is with pc gamer magazine and their continued double talk and flat out misleading news previews. this is why fans here are debating whether it's prey or dnf. don't get pissed off at fans who think it may be dnf. the only triumphant pc game making it's return would be a duke game imho. pc gamer could have easily worded that blurb to give a hint about prey without invoking dnf. "in our next issue, we have the world exclusive news on a pc game that has risen from the dead and is ready to finally make it's debut. have your "prayers" been answered?" "prayers" is an obvious wink at "prey". We could have announced a few articles as the biggest game franchise's ever, but most of you don't really care anyway." If Prey is ramped up in PC Gamer before DNF dont you think that is a bit of a kick in the teeth. 3DR said they would finish DNF before starting anything else, even if someone else does Prey they still must have a lot of input!!
