Question Max Payne 1 never makes it past the splash screen
Max Payne 1 never makes it past the splash screen.

I click on the icon.
The splash screen comes up.
It dissapears.
Nothing happends

What's wrong? Is it a common issue?
I installed the game on my external hard drive(LaCie drive) but I don't think this has anything to do with it
I am confused why isn't this working?

An internal hard drive that mounted in your PC case.

Max Payne should work on both internal and external hard drives. Just have to tell the setup where you want the files to be installed.

I'm beginning to think that the registry entries for Max Payne is corrupted.
You would have to delete them from the registry, then try installing again.

If you installed on the 40GB then moved the files to the external HDD then that'd screw things up.

I'll have to check. Otherwise you'll delete the wrong key and cause your PC to crash.

Then spend $50-300 for a video card to disable the bloody onboard video.
In the meantime, get the latest drivers for the onboard video.

Yeah, dead topic, but. The same thing is happening to me.

I was playing the game YESTERDAY, and I tried playing today and it won't get past the splash screen...

Pentium 4 - 2.4 GigaHertz
ATI RADEON 9600 series
1024 MB RAM

And yes, it is patched to 1.05....

Ok I've got an idea! I have just made MOHAA come back from the dead, Do you suppose the splash screen problem would have anything to do with the registry?

I got it fixed a while ago, sorry for not posting the solution, lol.

http://rapidshare.de/files/33636182/...fixed.zip.html

The zip has instructions inside, READ THEM.

After you follow them, the game will work fine.

Re: Max Payne 1 never makes it past the splash screen
I initially registered to say "Quit complaining about video card specs, it happens to me and I have an X1800XTX", but I since figured a couple things:

I was talking about the LOADING screen and not the SPLASH screen (drr), and if I alt tabbed in and out, it'd fix itself.

If it isn't getting past the splash screen, try disabling various things and see if it loads to pinpoint where your problem is.

Hello, i got the same problem too!
It would be really great if some can light this problem up here, because it seems there is already a fix for it. All i need is an explanation what to do.

thanks in advance
