"Nasty Prey Tricks"
I've had a blast with Prey in MP these last few days
![]() Body Stashes Body stashing is risky business, simply because you're essentially dead meat if someone finds you (unless of course they decide not to shoot, which is an unlikely scenario). So, when it comes to stashing, here's a good rule of thumb: When in doubt, don't do it. If your hiding place is bad, or if you're in a large game where players are portaling in all over the place, you're likely to die just as soon as you leave your body. That said, here are a few spots in Salvage Walk that are pretty decent, given you associate them with a particular defense. ![]() This is a fairly vulnerable spot, but only if you stray too far away from the room it's in. You have access to the door leading to the bridge, and anyone who's coming in to reload on sunbeam/acid are going to have to come through your spirit AND you, first. Since this is a fairly well-known spot, however, it's a good idea to return to your body just as soon as you get the feeling the enemy is going for it. Enemies coming in from the bridge will probably be able to see your body, so if you're not controlling that area, you might be in trouble. ![]() This area is located in the room with the leech gun (and can only be accessed by jumping from the wall-walk when it's right below you). It's a good spot, mainly because when players see your spirit they tend to jump around the room like rabbits trying to find your body. If they manage to take your spirit out, you can still have the drop on them thanks to your location. ![]() Again, this is a pretty vulnerable spot, but it's useful when you're engaged in battle, and you want to take a quick pop shot with the bow. This is definately not a place you want to leave your body in too long, because it's nice and easy to see. Also, if you're caught in a crossfire you're in trouble. END OF PART 1

Re: "Nasty Prey Tricks"
This next bit is fairly nasty, but it requires a nice setup -- so here's what you do: Go to the area where you would normally jump down onto the rocket launcher -- instead of doing that however, leave your body stuck to the top, and enter spirit mode. Here's a picture for how it looks:
![]() Next, enter the shielded area. Pictured here: ![]() You can shoot out, but nobody can shoot in unless they enter spirit mode ![]() Camp Zones Quite frankly, there's tons of places in Prey that can be considered camp spots. Part of the fun is that you have no idea where people are going to attack you from, so you have to react quickly. Still, there are quite a few places in this level where you set up your tent. ![]() The leech room's tubing isn't just good for body stashing! You can wait up here until some poor sucker opens the door, and drop a rocket on his head. Portal camping (not pictured). Most people know by now that you can wait behind a portal to nab a really, really cheap kill. I've done it a few times, but usually I score more kills just running around the map than I do camping behind a portal. In my opinion, it isn't worth your time, but you can use it as a confusing tactic when you're being pursued. Just run through the portal, and quickly slide behind it. If the player chasing you isn't paying attention, you have another chance to wack him (or pull your spirit on him). General Strategies These are just a few guidelines to live by if you want to stay alive longer in MultiPrey. -- Memorize the locations of nearby health deposits! Make sure that you know their locations well enough that you could walk over them backwards, if you had to. -- Grab that Acid Gun! It's one of the best, and it's an easy pickup. Win-win situation. -- Remember to use your spirit, even if it's just as a shield! -- Keep changing up your strategies so other players don't have time to "adapt." -- Check your blindspots! If you can hear someone walking on a wallwalk next to you, then it may be too late. -- Try to trick your opponents by going around corners, and coming out in spirit mode! These are just a few of the strategies and "nasty" tricks I've used to get the best of my opponents! Try them out (if you haven't already) and be sure to post a few of your own. Remember, don't let "nubs" make you their prey! I'm planning on doing another write-up for Keeper Gravity when I have time - that is, if people don't find this first one too lame ![]()

Re: "Nasty Prey Tricks"
Actually one of my tricks is to quickly jump out of my body, grab a kill and jump back in in the middle of a battle. You have to be able to do it pretty quickly but the fact that you do it adds an extra level of attack.
Make your you strafe before doing so so they don't just hit your body and you go back in. |

I played multiprey with a control pad last night (pc version). It's bloody hard trying to kill people when they are using a mouse... |

Re: "Nasty Prey Tricks"
It's quite fun to engage someone, run away, and as they give chase, hide behind a corner and meet them head on with your spririt. It also matches up well against the rifle's sniper mode.

Re: "Nasty Prey Tricks"
Time for another nasty prey trick
![]() This one can be done in Keeper Gravity; it's not so much a nasty trick, as it is a nasty defensive/offensive combo. ![]() In this location, you can stash your body on top of a health deposit, and you can cover the entrance (the only entrance to this location) with your spirit. Your body is hard to hit where it is, and even harder to see, especially since the enemy will likely be concentrating on your spirit. Secondly, if it does manage to get hit, you'll be pulled back onto a health spring! Excellent. I generally use this strategy when there's multiple people in the room, so I can take my time bowing them. Otherwise, I'll use it as a defensive position if I'm being chased. There's multiple entries to that room, however, so be cautious of that. If you can tell an enemy is going to get in, quickly hit E (or whatever your return to body button is) so you can wack him with the Acid gun just opposite your body's position. |

I get up on the tubes above the spot where you get the "grenades/mines" i drop down in spirit mode and grab the grenades. then i get back in my body. I do this one or two times. Then i use the mines and plant them all arount the door. Now if someone happens to enter that door .. BOOM. Doesn´t work very often but if it does it´s a hell of a fun to watch from your position.

Re: "Nasty Prey Tricks"
That stairwell one won't work if you are playing me, I always check under there.
![]() I love spirit walking, it adds an interesting surprise element to Prey. My favourite is still when someone backs away I quickly run into spirit walk and take him out. I get interesting comments when I do so though.....seems people think this is quake and not Prey making spirit walk "unfair" (even though one or two shots kills the spirit) |

Re: "Nasty Prey Tricks"
Great info Spooger thanks, heres some usefull info for everyone. Make sure your alternate fire button is as easy to hit as your primary fire. Since most of the weapons have 2 uses primary and secondary. When running low on primary, firing the secondary real quick most times will finish them off

Re: "Nasty Prey Tricks"
I find it usefull to camp at the celing of the big hallway with the big forced fielded closet.
You got two health packs nearby to replenish your health and you can easily retreat in the corridors to resuply. I also hid under the starcase in spirit mode, but now you see everybody doing it. It logical though if you go down in spirit sack area you cant get out while in spirit mode. If I encounter a spirit in that area you can bet they're under starcase. |
