Would it possiable to Combine EDuke32 and Mapster32?
I was just wondering , cause I seen an example in the Corridor 8 game. It allows you to jump from the 3D Editor(not the 2D view) to the game for instant comparison.

Now I know things look different and scale slightly different from the editor to the duke3d game, such has dukes height/view. This just annoyed me.

Anyway I was just wondering if it wouldn't be a headache?

I believe Mapster32 has a feature that will autosave your map and load it up in Eduke32 for a test play.

Honestly, you guys are spoiled to bits by Mapster32. Other games have a horribly convoluted way of making levels. Mapster and Build are pretty much the pinnacle. The only thing slightly more integrated is the Cube engine games (Saurbraten).

With Id tech games you have to worry about light leaks, brush paths, all sorts of garbage.

Making levels in Duke is not convoluted, you've got that right. But mapster certainly has room for improvement as compared with editors for modern games. For starters, it has no drop down menus and no undo feature.

Yeah, the only thing that's really lacking about Mapster32 is the learning curve of the rather archaic interface. Once you know how to use it and what the limitations of the engine are, Build is probably the easiest engine to lay out a map for. I'd actually like to update the interface at some point, probably just with some cheap menu/dialog based interface thrown on top of what's there now. I don't think I could pull off anything huge like Doom Builder, but something like Yadex would be an improvement.

The reason I asked is because Corridor 8 is a BUILD game, I figured bits of the code could be brought over to Mapster32/EDuke32 to combine them. Apparently there where some "enhancements" in the the editor too, but I really don't know what they all are at this point.

I figured I'd ask

Ctrl + P launches your map immediately putting the player's start position in the same place as your position in mapster

Alternatively, Ctrl + Alt + P does the same, just with the start position of the map (the green arrow in Mapster32 or, I think, brown in Build and older versions; set with "Scroll Lock").

While that would be cool, I'd probably really miss the old design.

Well, ideally everything would be about the same as it is now, there would just be some menus added to make it easier to find/do things and a little bit more mouse interaction. I do kind of want to ditch the whole giant bar at the bottom of the screen thing that 2D mode has going on though.

I agree with that. I have no problems ditching the old interface at all. Maybe you can set it in an options box on startup or something to choose between the new or classic interface for 2D mode. Or even 3D mode for that matter.
