Ka-flush! Is that the sound of Cyrix?
I read today at www.news.com that National Semiconductor is pulling out of the PC chip market. Guess who owns Cyrix, that's right boys and girls National Semiconductor.
You know what that hollow bubbling sound is? Is the sound a toilet makes after a company is down the drain. |

Re: Ka-flush! Is that the sound of Cyrix?
YES! It's about time they're gone! No one ever paid attention to them any more. Their CPUs sucked. Aurora51 must be happy.
And guess what? Cyrix will be using its CPUs for the information appliance market! Read this article for more. http://www.theregister.co.uk/990505-000014.html Anthony "Mantis" Miceli |

Oh poop. Now where will we get CPUs with 50% slower than normal FPUs?

Re: Ka-flush! Is that the sound of Cyrix?
hey people, arent you forgetting something? if it wasnt for companies like Cyrix and AMD we'd still be paying out our asses for Intel chips. Ok, ill admit Cyrix never was a big player and was no where near AMD, but they were still there, with every sale of one of their cpu's intel lost money, thus making them lower prices to attract even more people. i dont think anyone of us should be happy at this situation. for owners of Cyrix chips maybe they are pissed off, but overall, as stated above, they were a benefit to us, the customer.

Hehe, I once had one. But now that I have a K6-2 I will never cgo back to Cyrix. (except they produce a chip with a FPU better than the Athlon. .... Just kidding)

Re: Ka-flush! Is that the sound of Cyrix?
I actually own a cyrix 366 cpu, which I'm very happy with, but God do cyrix annoy me, its hell whenever you buy an upgrade, as the chances are it won't be compatable with cyrix, so you have to wait for the patch/update in drivers. Just a good thing I'm not planning on upgrading soon.
