This trailer rocks extremely! Nothing to complain, everything fits so nice. And as a big Star Trek fan I really love the fact that you directed the scene in Vasquez Rocks State Park where Kirk had his biggest fight ever

By the way: I hope we get a free high-res version of the trailer and not only IGN insiders...

I'm afraid i'm with ColdCat.
But there were plenty scenes showing gravity, spiritwalk and portals, and some were cool, like the thumbling cube with the doglike creature jumping out.

I don't know what to think of Prey anymore.
Somehow i find that the trailers don't match with what is described in interviews about the story and what the game is like.
My eyes see Q4 with portals but it's supossed to be so much more, and i know it is much more, but i don't really see it. Confused...hehe.
I'll just shut up and play the game when it's done.

Very nice trailer... I will be really looking forward to Prey!

By the way, it seems that the new name for GameXStream is going to be Triton (tm)? In the trailer the URL www.playtriton.com is mentioned; it's currently just a placeholder, but I guess that'll change soon.

The way they showed portals says: "Portals are just another way to spawn enemys" [true, the portal inside the cube was nice]

The short spiritwalk scene looked like "i found the doubledamage power up" or somthing like that.

"Gravityscenes" doesn't show any real useful information on how gravity is used to improve gameplay, they just looked like "omfg we've got physics in Prey".

They found no way to show how portals, spiritwalk and gravity should be useful for gameplay (to make the game fun and something special, over the average doom3-powered engine games) and that is a really bad mistake.

Or it is just very hard to show how that stuff realy affects gameplay in a trailer.

If it is very hard to show how portals, spiritwalk and gravity affect gameplay, then those things simply doesn't have the effect on gameplay that they want to make us beliefe and portals, spiritwalk and gravity are just some buzzwords without content...

And if it is just very hard to show how that stuff really affects gameplay BECAUSE it is just a trailer, they have choosen the wrong advertisement form.

Yes I meant specificaly in a Trailer. I do belive the Demo will be the only way to realy see what the game playes like.

Trailers almost never realy show how a game actualy plays, they are just treasers to get people interested in the game by simply being cool. Just like watching a Movie trailer usuly don't tell you much about the movie other then the premise.

One could always argue all the why/how/if etc about Trailers and advertisment but I'll let 3DR and HH worry about that and just enjoy the Trailer and the game once it is released.

People may become interested in Prey by watchiong this trailer. And then, they will download 11min video which shows pretty good amount of this gameplay features. It's just 3min. And it was done in the way of movie trailers from the story point of view, not from gameplay pov.

Well, I haven't seen it yet and judging from inteview.

What a difference a little dialogue makes to a scene like when the airplane portals into the sphere. You really get to feel Tommy's unwillingness and his Grandfather's urgency. That said, some of the voice acting didn't fit in the trailer and could have been more dramatic. Some, not all. Was the mocking female voice at the end really from the game?

The live action intro was beautifully done and so were the graphics and could have stood alone in their own right. I don't agree that stuff like this should be part of game promos though.

Overall, nice trailer and I'm positive about it.

Yes But on the other hand, if the original Prey wasn't cancelled, this could be Prey 2, and even better than how it is now, since they could modify the gameplay mistakes they made in the original Prey.

Before Doom 3 I always skipped reading parts. Mission briefings, I didn't read it, I just skipped (also had something to do I was too young to fully understand English earlier than 2004). But Doom 3 immersed me so much I now read everything I can in games.

I think the part in the beginning was very atmospheric. But yes the dialogue is a bit cliché.

I think them are "fighting words".
Maybe someone else (a boss for example) tells this to you.
Just because you hear something in a trailer doesn't mean it's supposed to be played at the place you see in the video.
Compare this with the Doom 3 final trailer released a few weeks before the game's release. While the marine was looking at his flashlight to organic growth on the walls and ceiling, Betruger was saying: "Amazing things will happen here soon... you just wait!".
Does that mean the organic growth is saying this to you? Of course not These words were spoken by Betruger in the first level while the marine is overhearing a conversation between Betruger and Swann.

That's not true, since the E3 2005 trailer showed this perfectly.
Of course, the genre of that trailer was different, since the different scčnes were longer.
I agree with everyone saying this trailer doesn't give a correct indication of what Prey is like. That was also my remark about the Xbox trailer. Then they used the excuse "But Xbox players like it better that way!". Well, now they can't use this excuse since this trailer spans over the PC version as well.

Kickass trailer folks, truly! Nice pullback treatment on the HH logo too, I liked that. Kudos to the Human Heads up north - this is looking really polished! (:ahem: of course, this only raises the bar for the kind of quality I expect from Rune2 )

Is the music from the game, or just made for the trailer? Really good stuff - I hope it's in the game. It lends a great big "I-Max" feeling to it all.

I do agree with some others here that we should be seeing better use of portals than primarily enemy spawns in these trailers - like the Box O' Portalwe finally got to see in action this time, that was cool! Another few helpings of visuals like that will help quell the standing "Quake4 with spawn portals" impression that too many people have when seeing Prey media for the first time.

Who would've thought we'd ever see an ATI-partnered OpenGL title?

Did mine eyes fool me, or did I see "tough guy" (don't know the name of the alien, but he's the biped with the double barrel fists and the horns) in their sacred area?

Also, I can practically guarantee this game will be (pardon the corporate rhetoric) a new paradigm. Do you remember playing your first FPS where you could walk on walls? I'm thinking of AVP2 for me, but that game is, to this day, an entirely different game experience (as the alien) because of that unique feature. It was tricky to get used to but super fun. This game adds so much more.

I like the Quake4 standard. Let's see - Doom3 was Quake4 in the dark. Half Life 2 was Quake4 with physics and a story. Halo was Quake4 with color and a story. Painkiller was Quake4 in hell. F.E.A.R. was Quake4 with ___(you fill in the blank). Quake4 has apparently earned the title of 'generic modern FPS' (both deserved and admirable in my opinion). I hear/read many complaints about the FPS genre stagnating with no variety in the games. I beg to differ. I find the FPS genre like an interactive book. Some will be thicker on storyline than others, some will be focused primarily on action but every time I buy one of these books/games, I know what to expect. Every now and then an author comes along and adds something that makes the experience richer (AVP2 with the three-species interaction, HL2 with physics, Doom3 with shadows, etc.) One must not forget that they're playing a FPS, and I think Prey will deliver. I've certainly never played a game before with gravity variations and portals.

I tend to disagree. Remember it's still about the game here and that one will rock regardless of the way they release media.

And if this will help get Prey to the "general public" then that's fine by me, it's not like the highres trailer has more footage or anything

I understand HH and 3DR have to play these games and dance to the tune IGn plays, but I refuse to watch that video, until it has been relesed on say Fileplanet and is available for ALL fans to watch, regardless of what account they have ,ie: paid or free... I think it was stated earlier in this thread, that a high res version would be released this weekend for us lowly fans,oh you know, the ones who will be shelling out our hard earned cash for this game...
