Exclamation PAL display problems
Cheers!

I just want to point out one DARN annoying problem I've been running into lately on 360; My TV uses PAL standard, running on 50hz. This week I ran TWICE to notification, that the games do not run on that setting and require 60hz mode, first with Live Arcade game, then with Hitman demo. And everyone knows what happens if 50hz TV goes on 60hz - flickering. Slight, true, but when you watch it for several hours it's painkiller time.

Not saying Prey has any that sort of problems, but just make sure it doesn't. I'm pretty sure I'll gravity flip my TV and Xbox out of the window if can't get to play Prey Demo on 22nd

PS: I know my TV is obsolote, but I'm hanging onto it 'till next year, financial issue, can't afford to buy good enough HD screen when I'm buying games like crazy )

Re: PAL display problems
In my experience, flickering is usually eliminated by switching to 60Hz, rather than it being the other way around. I don't own an Xbox360, but when I play my Xbox games, I ALWAYS set the display option to PAL60.

Without it, games usually look jerky. Fable, for instance, is significantly smoother running in this mode compared to 50Hz. This is down to the fact that most games are usually optimised for 60Hz these days anyway, and it's just lazily downscaled for PAL releases.

I use my Xbox with official SCART connection pack and a 60Hz capable TV and don't have any problems, either with flickering or with headaches after prolonged periods of play. Perhaps there's an issue with the TV set or the connection you're using that's causing this to happen when you choose to run at 60Hz?

My solution, buy a PC monitor, you can have a nice 19" CRT for 100 Euros nowadays. (if you can find them) and they have a better vision then LCD IMO.

I'm from Finland. Yes, my TV doesn't support 60hz. And 19" monitor really isn't a choice; I'd rather stick to 32" inches of widescreen

hehe, well it was only a suggestion, at least you would have HD in a high refresh rate And you could also go for a 22".

A 32 inch widescreen that doesn't support 60Hz? I think you've been ripped off. How old is it? The only solution I guess is to just bite your lip and suffer until you get that new TV.

It's old, something like Halo-old. I bought it same time I bought the original Xbox. In fact it's not nearly as bad as one would suspect. It's Panasonic, so the image quality is top-of-the-tube-TV-line.

I'm still lingering a bit, waiting the HD screen prices to drop a bit. I was first going for HD video projector, but I read somewhere the lamp life-span in hardcore-gaming is quit short - and the lamps do cost as much as one 360.

Or just the 360 VGA cable on his current monitor...
