Well it might sure, but in terms of a game, its not going to be a significant amount without being redundant.

The burnt skin is just a rough skin that i did really fast, so far now nothing is definitive, it's on the early stages people , the skins are for reference right now.

Also i don't intend on making the gun bloody after just a gunshot , i know how little the chances of that happening are.
You'll get bloody completely not only the gun, and only when A LOT of blood is involved. Remember that i want the mod to be GORY

Just an nice effect of reckless driver

Scenery nonetheless .

Yes the cars are roaming the city as well as people walking by, My main objective is to make the place become "alive", that's really important.

Yes, the cars are models.

Bloodstains would apply very well to "alive". Dead people can't bleed

One reason for his negative attitude is how people simply have an "OMG WOW" attitude to anything 32bit in Duke, when the shot isn't entirely impressive. (Unlike the first shots of the mod posted)

Well, for me it is quite impressive. It looks nowhere like build engine and making something looks like it's 4 - 5 - 6 years 'younger' IS impressive for ME.

Its impressive as a whole, but not when somebody tosses in some high res models and textures from somewhere else.

Not to say Davox has only done this, even with my criticisms in older pages, I still feel that the mod would be promising if ever finished.

Tell me bonessnapper, you think most level designers from today do their own models? some might do...but i'm pretty sure in gaming companies there are 3D modellers that are always giving them models to use in their levels. So what i'm doing is no different than most level designers, I get as many resources i can and "toss" it CAREFULLY in my maps.

I don't like cramping the map with stuff "just because". I plan before adding something and think if it will make sense or not in that place.

Hopefully that cleared up things a little .

Companies HIRE 3d modellers, and the company tells them what he mappers need in the game. They just dont model random things and give it to them.

Either way, none of this was directed at you, nor was it some sort of criticism against you. But rather against quite a few posters who are just wowed by anything 3D or Hi Res regaurdless of quality or anything.

I also dont want an all out flame war because its obvious few will understand anyways, so lets drop it.

...Not true. It may be modelled, but its not a model. AKA Its not something you import in a map to detail it etc.
Under those circumstances a Doom Map could be considered a model.

That IS true man, people are modelling WHOLE MAPS (not just parts) in software like 3ds or Maya or anything. That happens for modern fps games for SURE.

And if they are, I'd say thats a good reason new games look shitty to me.

No I don't think about LEVEL EDITORS like UnrealED

You want to say that for example Painkiller levels looked shitty? They were a miracle for me and were fully modelled in 3d software.

Och and of course I'm not thinking about ALL games, but a big part of all.

You should be honest: You have no ******* idea what we're talking about, right?

.
That means that people that were "wowed" at the last shot did it just because it's 3D or Hi Res? I can't find a post about it. Also I explained it's just a shot to show that the mod is still in the making.

What i'm trying to understand here is your point....You think that only people that do "wow" things with the regular duke textures deserve to be called good mappers? Maybe i'm misunderstanding you but that's the picture I got from your posts.

Entire map modelled in Blender. All the Geometry is created in Blender, then the BSP is exported directly from within Blender.

http://www.katsbits.com/htm/maps/kat1024.htm

This mod is looking more and more atmospheric all the time. Good work!

Re: DavoX's "Paradise Worlds" MOD
Well ok then, but thats really besides the point because Davox isnt modelling ANYTHING. Hes creating a few square, rectangle, circle and etc shapes making a flew slopes, then dropping models in from different sources.

Hes not modelling the whole level, so the argument is void in any case.
