Question The girl on the cover of Planet Strike
Who is she? What is she doing in (what I guess is) the abandoned training facility? Why is she wearing a casual party dress instead of some space suit? Why is there no mention of who she is in-game or the in manual? Is she supposed to be Blake's sister, Sara?

It was there solely because the marketing people at Formgen thought the game would sell better with a girl on the cover. We didn't think so, and objected, but since it was our first ever retail game, we were overruled.

I just realized Blake seems to have really light hair compared to the other game's box.
Anyway, it's impossible to say whether or not putting the girl on there actually helped.
Thinking about it for about two seconds, a lone hero with a gun looks like a tough guy, makes me think of shooting things.
Him protecting a girl like that makes me thinks less of shooting... seems to indicate the possibility the game includes some bits about protecting civilians.

What other game box? We didn't produce a retail box for the original Blake Stone game.

Guess he's talking about this http://www.3drealms.com/blake/images/blake.jpg. Besides, I think the title screen in the original game also had Blake with darker hair.

Yep, that's the image.
I suppose maybe that's not a box image at all; I never saw any actual BS or PS boxes.

It's the cover art for the print manual.

STOP SHORT WITH MY WIFE? ASSMAAAAN!

Seriously though, oldschool boxes had some silly stuff on the covers. I especially love looking back at long standing franchises and wondering what drugs they were on. Megaman, for instance, looks truly bizarre.

I thought even the original made this known in the story section?

Reminds me of the cover for the US version of Infernal Affairs with a random chick on it.

Nowhere in the movie, just on the cover.

I always thought that it was Blake's sister for some reason. She is, after all, the only female character mentioned in the story.

The look that Blake was given for Aliens of Gold's title screen is how I think of him. That guy on the Planet Strike box is an imposter!

I can't see the picture but I think you mean this;

It's a scan I made of one of the Wolf3D boxes I have.

That's the one.
I never saw McGyver in there, but I admit that after Zztx pointed it out, I can see what he sees.

I suspect the other pic doesn't work because we're trying to view it not from mobygames.com, but 3drealms.com.
(It's easy enough to program your server to work like that.)
Try dragging the replacement image onto your browser's address bar, and then refreshing.
It worked/works for me that way.
Actually I usually go: F5, drag, F5, but I think that first refresh does nothing.
Otherwise first visit the site, then copy/paste the image's URL on top of it.
