DayZ is still in a pre-alpha state... and a really terrible one at that. So, it's horribly unoptimized and unstable. May be hard to believe, it's actually in better shape then it used to be.

As for Shadow Warrior, I never had such issues with it. On my old 460 and my current 750... it runs great and doesn't cause any issues. Could just be an issue with a current driver... just keep an eye on your card for a while.

Project: Snowblind (PC)

I have now completed the entirety of the Deus Ex universe (even though this one was unofficial).

Sooooo many cutscenes. The game starts off poorly. Cramped corridor crawls and gopher-gameplay. It improves slowly throughout. By the end, it's a pretty good FPS with a decent plot.
Although there were clearly talented designers building the game, their efforts were castrated by one of the weakest graphics engines of the 6th console generation. I played the PC version and it looked like a really good N64 game. It didn't help that there's no way to play in the proper aspect ratio. It's 4:3 only (which makes the game feel more cramped when stretched to fit my 16:10 screen).

If somebody gives you a copy, i say go ahead and play it. But I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone pay for it.

Started playing through Rise of the Triad (2013)

I'm currently on the 2nd episode and so far....I am not impressed.

It's certainly a faithful throwback to the original game (which I played), but these game mechanics haven't aged well at all.

No A.I., shoddy graphics, weird level design, etc.

The weapons are fun though, as they were in the original game.


Also.....this game crashes. A lot.


Not sure if I can muster the strength to finish this one.

I'd say save yourself, the game only gets worse the further into it you get.
But, that's me. Who knows how you will feel on it.

I have played and finished The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

Pros
- The game has an engaging storyline
- The visuals are absolutely gorgeous
- It should keep point and click adventure enthusiasts happy
- Simple game mechanics with no HUD
- Puzzles that are challenging but aren't too difficult
- Even has some jumpscares

Cons
- The game is short, i finished it in about 4 hours
- Little to no replayability
- For the length of the game IMHO is priced about $5 too much.

Probably both a pro and con, the game is sort of a pseudo sandbox, you can choose to do any puzzle in any order but the game world is is quite linear.

The pros outweigh the cons and the game is by no means bad go play it and burn off an afternoon.

Goldeneye: Rogue Agent (Xbox)

Worst final level I've played in a long time.
Very difficult (even when using a health cheat) and only one save point early in the level. After that, you get a few checkpoints, but that just means you have to play in one sitting. If you turn the console off, you go back to that early save and have to play through another hour's worth of that same crap. Took me four days to finish the last level. Lots of attempts per day. Definitely not worth the $4 I paid for it.

So, all of a sudden I have this believe that says that if you have bad karma (or whatever you call the weight you carry on) and waited for Duke Nukem Forever and felt disappointed, all is forgiven .
