It's nice it's out for people who can't experience it on PC... but, their console launch trailer is the exact same trailer used for the PC launch.

I also love that even Flying Wild Hog said the console version doesn't look as good as the PC version.

Seriously? I'm no console expert. But I would believe ps4 and xbox one tech would be apt for a just as good experience as in PC. Oh well. :S

I though they were targeting max pc settings?

Hardware is pretty fast – our target is 1080p/60fps with ultra PC settings (SSAO and mirrors enabled).

That's what they were targeting, but they said a little while ago they had to completely rewrite certain parts of the renderer as the console couldn't handle it.
So, in some ways it looks just as good... but in others, the PC version looks better.

Oh, it sounds super minor. Phew!

Did you add or remove any graphical effects at all when porting Shadow Warrior from PC to PS4 & XB1?

We didn’t remove any graphic effects, but many of them were heavily optimized in order to reach our 60 fps target. Some of them, like reflections and SSAO were rewritten from scratch, so some things will look a bit worse and some a bit better. Generally it’s not a big difference in visuals and for most people the graphics will look exactly like the PC version.

Yeah, that's the interview.
But, there was a twitter post from someone at Flying Wild Hog about it. The post was removed shortly after it went up.
He commented that the PS4 version looked great... but, the PC version still looked so much crisper.

Either way, it's good that console owners can now play the game. Though, it'll be years before I touch either of the new consoles.

I can't blame you there. No reason to pick one up yet. Even an average PC is going to be top dog for the next few years. I have a PS4, so I figured I would pick it up just support Flying Wild Hog. I think this is the first console retail release Digital Devolver's done. Hopefully we'll see some DLC for Shadow Warrior next year!

For me, it's a lake of interest in released or upcoming titles... and basically just no desire for the system itself.
I got my PS3... a little over a year ago. And I only got it because they were selling it ay my job for 50 bucks. If it had been more then that, I wouldn't have bought it.

I've never bought a console at full price... and if I can't get it for next to nothing, I won't even bother.

Pft... that wasn't going to happen. Platform preference is not something to get up in arms about. Ever.

Have you played through the game before, Joe? It really feels like a new 3D Realms game to me.

PC gamers, rest assured that Flying Wild Hog did not forget you. We’ve discussed with Flying Wild Hog about the CPU issues we’ve encountered with Shadow Warrior, and the team revealed some juicy information that will please most of you.

First and foremost, a new build of Shadow Warrior will be released that will be 64-bit only. This build is said to perform considerably better than its 32-bit counterpart.

Moreover, Flying Wild Hog has optimized serial code paths and replaced DX9 with DX11, which has lower CPU overhead. As the company noted, the game currently scales much better and most of the time uses all available cores.
Now that's nice

I have a rather old system and don't remember any performance issues when I played it. Seemed pretty efficient to me, but it's good to see them still tweaking after all this time.

Nothing about console vs PC.
I just live on a budget and as such, new consoles are never ever something I consider.

They only make it into the house if I find them for next to nothing. And that usually only happens years after they've been out.
And, I don't ever enter drawings or anything... as, I've never won a single thing my entire life. So, I've gotten to the point I don't even bother trying.

It had some occasional stuttering/fps drop problems like those "Hard Reset" had.

No, actually. Up until two weeks ago I never had a computer that could play it. The guys hooked me up with a Steam code when it first came out, but I couldn't play it. Like ROTT 2013, I couldn't play on my own machine, as it got (literally - no exaggeration) just five frames per second.

Picked this up on PS4 as I never was able to complete it due to my computer dying a painful death. Forgot how deadly that knee high water can be...

Remind me about try do sprinting dash when go down the stair but end up get killed due to large amounts of falling damage... even my Lo Wang had 170 HP and still dead.
(But that's on PC, don't know console versions do change this or not?)

And the reply from the developer on the topic make me LOL as hell, can't stop after a while.

Eurogamer did a comparison between PC and the console versions.
The PC version is definitely crisper, and you can clearly see they did change the "mirrors" rendering.

The article does say that the console versions run smoother, but state the PC version can't maintain 60fps on Ultra settings.
Which makes me wonder... as I run the game on Ultra and according to Nvidia Shadowplay it runs at 60.
But, I am excited for the update.

Well... Having both an Xbox One AND this game on my way, I'd say that this better be nice. Would have gotten the PC version, but the XB1 version stuck out at me like a sore thumb for some strange reason.

Kickass, glad to see the console crowd getting treated to this!

I actually like the remake a lot more than the original. The original comes off as just another Duke 3D clone but the remake actually has very much a vibe of its own and feels more unique. And I dug the voice acting and story more.

The original is a fun shooter of course, but the remake is a masterpiece imo.
