I should have read his email more carefully... it actually looks like he downloaded the XTR and put last Update Pack (v1.09!) into it! Meaning: All the old HUD weapons, outdated def files... I think that could be the reason.

Hey TM, I really like your Skycar model, and I was thinking about utilizing it in my mod as an actor (probably as an enemy that flies around and shoots). But one problem I had when I attempted this was that the only part of the model that was solid (i.e.g shootable and blockable) was a small section in the back (near the Skycar's engine). Obviously, the model wasn't designed for use as an enemy, and this makes me wonder if an adjustment to the model itself could make it more suitable for my purposes. What do you think? Could the blocking area of the model be adjusted?

The back of the model isn't constructed in any particularly strange fashion. It may be a con-code thing ??? Feel free to use the model (its GPL with the rest of the HRP) If any updates to the mesh will help this out, let me know. If you download the model from my site (see sig) you will get a high-res skin with it. I can provide the original .blend file if you need it.

Latest hi-res pack
(XTR) It's hosted on fileplanet, and though I've registered it don't let me download it...do I have to pay money to FilePlanet to be able to download it? If so, it's really not fare to host it there...Hi-res pack is free and should be downloaded for free...I want hi-res pack

You donīt have to pay for Fileplanet, you just need to get a user account which is offered for free (at least it should be). You shouldnīt have any problems downloading it at all!
There is a mirror hosted by Plagman (although itīs zipped and no self-extracting exe). Search in previous posts within this thread for the link or go to my site (signature link). Both files can be found in the "Downloads" section there. |

I installed the XTR "fresh" (ie: deleted my old 'highres' directory as well as the old hrp and maphack .zip files). I am getting the alignment issues with the devistator & lazer trip wire. Also, the "quick kick" foot (`) is kinda messed up (see attatchment) but the foot works fine when selected as weapon 1.
I'm using JFDuke.

Precisely. I am sorry, but right now, I am kinda forcing you to use eDuke32 with HRP XTR. It shouldnīt make any difference for newbie users. And I donīt quite understand why one would use executables from October 2005 (jfDuke) when there are some dated June 2006 (eDuke32), to be honest.

Meh, TBH I just couldn't be bothered to go download ED when I already had JF, since I had no plans to do any of the more advanced stuff that required it. I'll pull EDuke out of the XTR download file and use it, then.

Someone plays Duke3D with jfDuke without HRP just fine. However, when using HRP, the textures get messed up: In the playerīs vicinity, everything has color, but further away itīs all greyscale with "wrong textures", as he puts it. I`ll quote the rest: Quote:

I have no idea what is going on, and it doesn't help that his e-mail is almost incoherent. But as a general observation, it seems to me that the more time passes without JFDuke being updated, the more out of sync it will be with EDuke and the more likely that strange problems like this are going to occur. In the mean time, I guess we should tell people to use EDuke. This won't necessarily solve their problems, but at least it will eliminate one big variable.

He most probably got something in the wrong folder or linked the wrong way. Sounds like a problem with def files if 'wrong textures' are cropping up.
If I were him I would check graphics drivers. ATI 7X series (shudders).

Since the strippers only appear in E1L2, the mod will gain you nothing in eps 2-4, so you donīt need it there. Instructions: 1) Download: http://www.uploadtemple.com/view.php/1152025642.zip (1.3 MB) 2) Rename file to xxx_pack.zip 3) Load as parameter directly after XTR, e.g. /gduke3d_xtr.zip /gxxx_pack.zip After the other babe models are finished, there could be more XXX-rated stuff... ![]() |

I can't seem to figure out how to fix this. Whenever I try to use the SD mod along with the DUKEDC HRP I get hall-of-mirrors in various places.
the parameters I am using at startup are /gDukedc.zip /gduke3d_xtr.zip /gduke3d_sd.zip /gdukedc_hrp.zip The game looks fine if I leave the sd mod out though. Would changing the order of the parameters help?

Iīd rather say your SD Duke mod interferres with DukeDC HRP. Make 100% sure you are using
- Duke3D HRP XTR (v1.0), optionally with update v2.0 integrated - DukeDC HRP v1.32 - SD Duke Mod v1.02 Beta (available on my site) My guess is you are using an older version of SD Duke mod. These ones didnīt have the corrections for the tiles DukeDC is using. This results in the game being unable to find the DukeDC textures. |

Since the maphacks thread seems to have been removed, I am posting this here:
I am currently working on a second revision of all maphacks. This includes fine-tuning like rotation of equally-aligned bottles, lying bottles or ammo boxes turned into the wrong directions. Next Maphacks Reloaded version (v2.01) will probably be the "final word" concerning alignment for all models that have been done yet so that one can fully concentrate on the new models. |

Hello,
I downloaded High-Res Pack XTR 1.0 (Jun 14, 2006) and i am using it with EDuke32 1.4.0svn (Jun 13 2006 14:51:28). I run the game with eduke32.exe /gduke3d_xtr.zip parameter. The game runs in a beautiful high resolution ,however i can't see any 3d models. Enemies are still sprites, dukes gun is till 2d. I changed all the settings i could possibly think of (eg.polymost ,etc). Does someone have a clue what am i doing wrong? Thanx very much!

Do you use the shortcut that the pack generates to start up the game? In order for the models and stuff to load, you need to load them behind the executable with several switches. If you use a newer different game executable directly to start the game, you might not have all or any of the the switches. If so; you must create a new shortcut for the new executable with the correct switches (which you can look up in the created shortcut).
If you do use the shortcut generated, rightclick on it, check out the properties, and tell us what the line for the program/executable is, including all the switches behind it; someone else might be able to help you onward with that information, or know if something else is the problem. |

Well I dunno if you can already do this in the June 13 build for eDuke32, but anyway:
In your duke3d.cfg, check whether you find a line reading like this: UseModels = 1 If the 1 is a 0, change that and save the file. You can also do this with the ingame menu (but as I said, I donīt know if that feature already was integrated into that earlier version). To make 100% certain, get latest snapshot over at http://wiki.eduke32.com/stuff

There will be a new Update Pack on November 30, as I wrote in the appropriate thread. I'd rather have a full HRP release ready by then, but if the new drone models don't make it till then... Oh, and as soon as the new HRP gets out, I will ask TerminX to close or even delete this thread, for there'll never be an XTR release again, only official ones... ![]()

BTW could anyone of you check for a file 0431.png (or jpg) in the highres\textures folder of the XTR?
It's because I just noticed an error warning in eDuke32 when loading the pack, telling me the file is missing. And in my custom build (the one Parkar and I are currently working at), it's really missing - but defined in textures.def. |
