Error \"Unable to read data from \"\\DATA\\....\"
Hello,

I cant play Max Payne on my system:

AMD 2800+, Radeon 9800 Pro, Asus A7N8X (Nforce 2)
1 GB Ram, Audigy 2 ZS - WinXP home mit Sp 2

Software is the newest version (Windows, Ati, Creative, Nvidia)
Max Payne is updated to 1.05.

Only i can play Max Payne any minutes, the Error on Grafic with message

"Unable to read data from "\DATA\...."

Then I on the desktop. After a new start of the game i can play and on another place is always an error :

"Unable to read data from "\DATA\...."

What can I do????

I have an original version (germa Cover). I buyed it in the year 2001.

PS: For the Anti-XP people:

I have installed Windows 98 SE.
The games runs without grafik errors, but the sound makes a big problem. Any sound in the game are temporary not playing (Weapon). Then the game makes no fun.

Thanks for your help

Re: Error \"Unable to read data from \"\\DATA\\....\"
first, nice system, alas, do to my economic patterns, i cannot afford something better than 256 RAM and a 64-bit card.
Anyway, as for your problem, I believe that your CD is most likely the file that it is trying to read is damaged, so just re-install. Now if you did do that already than it is most likely the CD- my friend that is damaged, which kinda sux dont it. Just buy a new one, max payne costs max 20 bucks nowadays. I really doubt it is your system, otherwise update your driver for ure grfx card. gud luck

I have found the error myself - The AR-Ramdrive.

I deinstall the ramdrive and then works Max Payne without error.

Sorry.
