Question about Jon St. John / Duke's Voice

I have a question about DNF if the DNF scholars could answer. When i use to lurk in these forums I remember reading that Dukes more complicated, long lines were not going done by Jon st. john but by another voice actor. Is this true? I would hate to see dukes voice to change. Altough i have faith in 3DR.

I remember that too...

But i can't remember if that was ever really confirmed though...

But if it's gonna be someone else that Jon, then it can only be by someone who sounds exactly as Duke... Jon is still our original Hero though...

Yeah, but hopefully Jon st. John will come back to do the voice, like John Galt came back to do the grandfather again in Prey.

I thought George said once that they would never use different voice actors for individual characters in games... Can`t find that quote right now though

I think I would cry if Jon St. Jon didn't do the voice of Duke in DNF. No one can match his voice...it just oozes ass-kicking.

Well, he's a voice actor in general... Doesn't mean he can only do one voice...

He can do many voices, and that's very impressive imo... He can sound EXACTLY like Homer Simpson, and Mr Smither's and Mr Burns too...

That was the one thing I remember saying way back about Dukes voice. Its cool for short one liners but I could never really imagine hearing Dukes voice carrying out a conversation with anyone.

But at the same time the same guy that did Dukes voice might be able to change it up a little for long lines.

Hmm, in the intro of Duke nukem - Zero Hour, he talks to himself from the past... That was quite a medium long conversation... And that DID sound exactly like Jon St. John...

Cause it was John St. Jon. He also had other medium conversations with some people later on in the game. In general he had a lot more to say in DN:ZH.

His voice sounded slightly different in DN:ZH when he was doing the longer speeches. I believe it is not that easy to keep the right tone throughout a whole sentence of dialogue, as you'd have to concentrate really hard in order to do it. It might also have sounded slightly different due to the sound chip within the N64, or maybe just my crappy TV. :P

On topic - It would be a sin to not have Jon St. John doing the Dukes voice. No second way about it.

personally i wouldn't mind if they didn't use jon st john...i mean, there's so many voice actors out there that can replicate the exact voice of duke nukem that nobody would even beable to tell the difference...

and i'm guessing 3dr want a better "actor" this time around, rather than just one liners...i don't think it'll be hard to find an exact same voice actor anyway

Nope. George meant that there won't be two actors doing Duke's voice in DNF. For example, Jon doing oneliners and someone other big conversations.
