Re: The New Hardware Thread
So i think it's come to this, time for me to build myself a new PC. My current PC is starting to slow down and the mobo has the old intel 1155 cpu socket. A new Mobo and CPU i might as well just build a whole new system. It's going to be a "build as i go" system so i am aiming to have it completed about christmas.
So far i have compiled a wishlist on a local pc online shop, so what i am thinking is - Case - Areocool Syclone II black Mobo - Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 CPU - i7 4790 @ 3.6GHz with a Enermax liquid CPU cooler. GPU - EVGA GTX 780 superclocked PSU - Cougar 1000w modular HDD/ SSD - 2TB + 256GB I haven't really decided on a case as yet, i want something stylish but not boring and also i am thinking of adding another GTX 780 down the line to have a dual SLi setup.

Re: The New Hardware Thread
Probably might wait until Doom 4 becomes more known, then I'll build based upon those specs.

Re: The New Hardware Thread
Just bought some components for my new build and arrived today. I decided against the Aerocool Syclone case and thought i would go with an Aerocool Predator mid tower case, ordered one but store said they were sold out and not ETA on when they were coming back in stock, anyways i chose an NZXT Phantom 410 mid tower.
I just ordered a i7 4790k and will order a liquid cooler my next pay so hopefully it should be done in a couple of months. i will recycle my old GTX 680 until i can save up for a GTX 780.

Re: The New Hardware Thread
Nice! My only problem with that case (I considered getting it myself) is the bladed design on top doesn't allow me to put stuff (like my cable modem or router) on there.

Cable management is a nightmare, in between cables routed in front of the holes or mobo power and stiff PSU cables, the back is a total mess. Once I get some more hardware i might give it another go and neaten some cables up.

Re: The New Hardware Thread
Update...
My new PC is very nearly done. New CPU and cooler are installed. I went with the i7 4790k and a Corsair H75 liquid cooling. RAM is installed as well, i chose GSkill Ares 16GB (2x8GB) 1866Mhz, i have absolutely no idea about RAM, the more i read up the more i am confused. All i know is that this RAM is on my mobo's QVL and they were reasonably priced. All i need now is a HDD and SSD and i should be all set until i can save up the dosh for a Galaxy Hall of Fame GTX 780ti and adding another one down the line.

Re: The New Hardware Thread
Woo, my new PC is now done, bought the last components yesterday. Bought a 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD and a 256GB Crucial MX100 SSD.
I am worried though, everything went too smooth, installed the HDD and SSD, booted it up and the bios recognised both of them, all i had to changed was the boot order. I installed Windows 7 by a USB stick and took all of 10 minutes. The only thing is that i had to install the LAN driver before i could get the net but everything without a hitch. Hopefully in a few months time i would have saved up enough money for a GTX 780ti.
