Scramble 01 Multiprey custom map preview
I've started work on a Multiprey map concept that I'm hoping will address what we (me and my collegues) think are some fundamental issues with Multiprey. It's come a long way in a short space of time (2 days) and have some images to show, as well as an explaination of the concept behind the map. You can check it out here

I'd be interested on any feedback on the concept, so post your thoughts here or email me at 5thofNovember@legionpcgamers.com if you're interested in checking out a beta version when it's ready. I'm guessing the map will be complete in a couple of weeks from now, pending playtesting, etc.

Yep proximity cheap frags could be fixed by implementing a semi-random respawn distribution (programing), but your fix using level design is really interesting m8
Thx for the advice

Re: Scramble 01 Multiprey custom map preview
This is going to take longer than I thought, given as of today I have to start from scratch. I tried firing up Prey this morning and for some reason, I kept getting an error that prevents it from loading. So I saved the map and material files and reinstalled. For some stupid reason, the saved files dissapeared. And after reinstalling the game it still won't load. The most frustrating thing is that I haven't done a goddamned thing to my system. It was working fine last night but this morning, no dice. I'm not a very patient man when it comes to this sort of thing, so I may just shelve this project instead.

Reinstalled gfx drivers and defragged my machine and the problem is fixed (thought I'd mention that in case someone has similar problems). The map has vanished though, so I have to start from scratch and am trying to decide if I could be bothered.

Oh man, that sucks, that map was looking really good!

I had a similar problem myself, had the computer at a LAN with no problems, got it home and hooked it up and had huge debilitating problems requiring a reformat. Luckily I had about 3 different backups of all my Prey maps.

And really, 2 days isnt much time... it sucks to lose that, but to accomplish what you had done in 2 days time is amazing. I've spent far longer on my map, scrapped a days worth of work, and am now redoing and tweaking stuff that took me atleast 4 or 5 hours to do in the first place.

What kind of error? No info about it?

As a non-mapper, I applaud all the efforts being made by you guys, a good server mod such as EMZ for Doom 3 ported to Prey http://www.the-emz.com/doom3/latest/ would let you customize your spawnning weapons amongst other things but in the mean time , your idea is worth a shot
If anyone would like to add to my forum post go here

Read over the mod and what it has to offer

Re: Scramble 01 Multiprey custom map preview
Interitus - you're right - 2 days isn't a lot of time. I was just annoyed that I could lose it all so easily (admittedly, it was largely my own fault). I;ve rebuilt the lot of it, but this time decided to do a better job of it. So now it's looking much better (although very similar) and now I'm glad it happened. Updated (and enlarged) screens here: http://www.legionpcgamers.com/document.php?id=27

I'll add more screens of other parts of the map later in the week.

Nice! May your PC crash a lot more often!

Btw, any ETA on this map? (and no, WID will not do)

Cameo, I'm thinking a beta will be ready for playtesting in about 2 weeks from now. Depending on feedback from that, anywhere between 2 - 3 weeks after then. Initially I thought I'd get it out a bit sooner, but the main playing is proving to be more work than I'd anticipated.
