Why is the multiplayer still so laggy??

I remember when the demo came out a while back the multiplayer was so laggy it was unplayable.Well, I bought the game at gamestop for $10 the other day.I love the single player but the multiplayer is still pretty much unplayable unless you host a match.It's been out for a good while,so why does it still lag?Has there been any patches to fix it?

I don't think the netcode ever got updated?

And I believe animations run at 30fps

Sadly, this isn't really an issue since PREY's MP died shortly after the release of the game. I'm sure had the MP been more popular they would've focused more on improving and adding to it.

Bit of a chicken and egg issue there methinks. The multiplayer was unpopular because it was laggy and buggy. Basically unplayable out of the box, at least on the console side. Never should have been released that way, and pretty much guaranteed that nobody would play it. Who wants to play the unplayable?

PC side I never had any issues with lag, it always ran smooth.. even in the demo. Just didn't catch on.

no one plays multiplayer because counter-strike and battlefield 2 took over lives of thousands of potential players.

And at the time of PREY's release FEAR's multiplayer was really big.

I didn't have a problem with lag in the PC version. As for the 360 version, well, I never played it.

Hi!

I've been wondering, why i can't join a match. Every time i click on it, the game says i'm missing one thing, which i can get from the server. I've installed the latest patch, and i don't know what should i do, to solve the problem.

Any help or a tipp i would appreciate!

Ah, it's ok now, i just didn't look in the right place. I wasn't paying attention to the number of players...

And so i was enoying for the first time in MP. It was awesome, but some maps were just too big. There were up to 5 players at the same time.

Prey suffered from un-imaginative multiplayer. Portals and gravitytricks aren't enough to make pure DM that interesting, there are free games that too DM really well. You need to innovate, but it just shows that MP wasn't really the primary focus for Human Head.
