Duke in Space
I really liked getting high in Duke 3d and am ever so curious about the space missions if any, in DNF.
Should Duke go into orbit during DNF?
I really wanted to make a thread about Dukes spaceship and about the potential of space missions in DNF. I think it would be a mistake to not include a really cool new spaceship for Duke and I would seriously miss going into orbit in the new game. They could have some really kick ass action in some space battles above the earth. Also it would be so cool if we could explore the new Duke spaceship during a brief peaceful moment possibly with some female company. Duke could also encounter a TV set that is broadcasting massive explosions above the eatrh. These explosions could be the alien ships that Duke is destroying while the population down below is watching all along knowing that it is Duke Nukem up there kicking ass. I dream that a segment in the game will be like this. It would really be cool and totally give the player the feeling that they are saving the earth and the people Know it.

im down with going into outerspace, but i want at least 1/2 of the game to be in the city i really love the city parts in duke 3d, being in a bar, a movie theater, a shopping mall, a grocery store, i hope that is all in there. things like that were always my favorite.

Your thread title is missleading, I thought it ment Duke smoking weed. lol and I would have gave that a big no. But going into space, I wouldnt mind! Would feel like Episode 2 all over again.

Me too! I would enjoy a few space levels. I really like the outdoor space levels or those with a spectacular view of earth or stars where you really feel you are in space.

Like the "Facing Worlds" map of Unreal tournament for instance! That was great!
I hate booooring space corridors made only for the development easiness.

But we don't have a lot of space levels evidence up to now. For instance i don't recall space levels from the E1 trailers.Only the first new DNF screenshot was presumed to be in a space station....And from the old pics the one with the chainsaw

I've liked the space levels from duke3d and I hope there will be some space action. Also what about if there is place(or places) in the levels with zero gravitation?

Yeah they were a bit scary but that was great and I think with todays graphics they could really give us some good scary levels up there. It is cool that more then half the votes agree to Duke going into space.

Never really liked space levels. One of the appeals of D3D in the first place was the more down to earth locations in the first/third episode. (and fourth, once the expansion came out) I've never had the urge to finish the second episode more than once.

It was but the type of level design wouldn't work in DNF - DNF needs large areas. The design of the levels in Doom 3 had the rooms very small, which wouldn't suit IMO.

I loved Doom 3. The one thing i hated what the shotgun in that game. The Super Shottie in the expansion pack was kick ass thoe.

I just didn't like the 2end episode in Duke Nukem 3D. i wouldn't mind being sent up once and a while but not a whole episode devoted to it

Doom 3 started out all right. After the first hour, though, it just felt like playing the same level over and over again. You could predict what was going to happen way in advance of it actually happening. (ie if I pick this object up, monsters will spawn in from these directions...when I open this door there will be monsters in these positions...)

The hell levels were probably the best bits. Honestly.

I can't vote as I'm neither "very interested" nor "not interested" in space levels in DNF. I liked the 2nd episode in DN3D and I'm all for diversity in levels (I said it already in the last "space levels in DNF" thread) so if there are such a levels in DNF, fine. If not, fine as well.

I am hoping for a few scary levels up in space. I also want to be able to pilot or even just have a shotout inside Dukes spaceship. Either way I want to spend some time in a new Duke spaceship. I am hoping for some interactivity inside the new spaceship. Duke could steal this ship from the edf facility aka, Area 51.

Re: Duke in Space
A cool idea to start a space level:

Duke arrives at the space station to be welcomed by a big party. After a few hours of the party Duke is assighed to check out signal they found on radar or something. So Duke suits up and goes after were the signal source was coming from on the martian surface riding a car or something.

After Duke manages to get really far from the station he finds a black box nussled away between two rocks. He picks it up and finds a button on the side of the strange black box. He pushes the button but nothing has happned, so he gets on his ride to find out that damn thing doesnt work anymore. So he walks back which takes a very long time.

Duke gets inside the decompresion center and hears nothing, no talking, no whistles, nothing. Duke readies his weapon as the decompresion finishes and walks out prepared to kick some ass.

Then everybody jumps out and shouts "surprise!" it takes a few seconds and a dozen people mowed down by the first wave of machine gun fire for Duke to realize it's his birthday, and the black box actually contains his birthday cake. Unfortunately pushing the button caused all the air to vent from the box, so the girl inside the cake can't jump out of it any more.

Apart from that, great time had by all. Yeah I screwed up your story.

It would be cool if they brough some of the elements that made the city/urban levels so good into space. Im sure these aliens have been busy kidnapping our kind for research anyway.. Maybe they have let us build out own little world in some space ship lab to study us and to grow chicks.. If so, this is something Duke needs to have a look at asap!

It's the best feeling when there is an awe inspiring view of the Earth or the Moon and the stars imo. If they can capture that in a few cleverly implemented space levels I'll be in heaven.
