this thread is so funny, much needed comic relief in here mostly due to my posts lol, btw I dont give a hoot about dnf anymore, it feels good to just be an asshat though but i hope nobody take this shit for real. 3dr was the best in the game many moons ago and i still love the heck out of the content they did create. thats all i felt like clearing that up.

Out of curiosity I visited Google Maps to see if any street views had been updated. Unfortunately was that not the case, but I spotted something else. The map system had "Apogee Software" added. This was absent from the map when I checked it in mid-2009. Considering the address is available on Google, I assume I could post it here as well, but decide not to.

Instead I post the most recent image of 3D Realms HQ I could find (from Google Maps):

That is a Lamborghini.

Yeah, it's old. If we could get a brand new image, that would be great. But I don't know of any other service than Google Maps that offers such imagery. And I don't know anyone on the forums that lives in Garland/Texas.

EDIT: I looked at an image from same location via Google Earth (2009/12/05) and there are no cars there whatsoever.

I've lived in the D/FW metroplex for 12 years. Probably about 45 mins from the 3DR HQ. Always wanted to go by, but never did.

That said, this is the dumbest idea I've ever heard. I don't think picketing the HQ (if anybody is even there, anymore) will do a damn thing. This is up to 3DR and Take2 now, and no damn fans picketing is going to make them move along.

My gut says 3DR is doing what it can to keep/preserve the Duke Nukem IP. I'd say that's more important.

When the shit hit the fan last year, I offered some updates about how there were plenty of cars after the layoffs (turned out they were having some kind of job fair) and took hell from people who thought it was stalkerish to drive down a street I always drive down and say, "Hey, there were some cars."

Any release date is dependent on getting a 'gold' copy of the game to the publisher for distribution. Since they do not have all the content wrapped together in a complete unit, they are nowhere near a 'gold' disk. Backtracking design, level mechanics, graphics, etc.. takes time for the coders to implement and refine the elements together, then get it tested by gamers who will stfu and not leak any info while they test the game for any issues.

The only way anything is coming out is, whatever content they already have 'in-game' and complete, meaning levels that are 100% done and working would need to be packaged and sent to Take2. That's not gonna happen, why??? because they only have less than 10 levels (probably less than 5) done 100%. The rest of the levels are missing a lot of elements and are not ready to be integrated into the working game (even if the textures don't look quite right). Take2 and the gaming community would freak over a FPS with 10 or less levels. 3DR would become a worse laughing stock than they already are.

Alternatively if the game really is 'nearly finished' then that means that, 3DR is in no financial/production position to release the code to Take2 for retail sales, they need a ton of content/levels and 'never done before' game mechanics to have DNF outsell anything else out there. With the trend over the past few years of video game sales/profits declining 3DR will be hard pressed to turn a profit from royalties from Take2. Unless 3DR can be convinced that DNF will 'shatter' sales records and become the 'biggest selling video game of all time' they are better off keeping the game unfinished and waiting for the video game market to pick back up.

Get a bazillion gamers to line up & say "we will" or "we won't" do this or that, and 3DR will still (smugly) say "great, but it's still WID"

I don't have the energy to explain all the 3DR-T2 issues and why there is a media blackout.
Suffice to say all the issues can be resolved by only one party 3DR.
Finish the game and deliver the 'gold disk' to T2 by the date listed in the contract all issue disappear, but what incentive is there for 3DR to do that?
only $$$, nothing else matters. So if we (the people who spend the $$$) make it clear deliver on-time or we won't buy it ever, suddenly there is a big reason for 3DR to deliver.

Any company that ignores a sizable section of their consumers are doomed. Even if the threat is an empty one, the collective voice has a lot more power that you give it credit for.
