Okay.

I'm waiting to hear from some people that were fans of the games. So far we've been getting reviews from... well... movie reviewers (SURPRISE!!!) but most of them make only a one sentence mention of the game.
A few reviews from gamers, people that loved the Max Payne games... that would be good.

The director says " Mark is Payne and will forever be", i say IMO " no is not" for me Mark looks and acts just like in any other movie that i saw from him, especially to me he looks just like he did in the "shooter" movie. I didn't saw the Max Payne movie but this is what i feel from seeing the Trailers, i hope the movie makes me wrong.

I agree...Max payne character was one of the best aspect of the game...and imo with Sam Lake's -based model he was perfect....

I really like Mark as an actor but i I cant take him as Max payne under no circumstances...Where is max payne's smirk???

Take for example Mark's jumping at 0:29-0:32 at the first video in 3drealms first page....Am i the only one who finds it ridiculous?
Also he is just too serious and not as smooth/cool and sarcastic as original max payne.

The movie as i had expected had great visuals and mood. Two aspects totally ruined the movie imo: 1) Silly Dialogues 2) Mark as Max payne

And now they as just saying that they will never correct the 2)

oh God....why?

@WoodenSword: I don't really remember Max being overly sarcastic in either game. Sure, there was the occasional odd language, but it was all reinforcing the noir atmosphere.

I remember people were saying those monster things were most definitely just visual representations of the things people saw while they had V in their system.

But on TV there was some kind of short preview thing when a show on some channel (FX I think) was going to commercial. It showed the part from the trailer where the angel\monster thing pulls a guy out of a window. But then it showed Max and Mona, and they said something which suggested they both saw it too.

So is this a monster movie now?

I just saw the movie... and i'm sorry to say i dont think it did the game any justice. No Vlad? No Vinnie? Although, the Self-Storage place Max goes to is called Gognitti's which i found clever..

Did anyone else notice McAffrey's Cameo?

It strays a lot from the game plot. Think Doom the movie with odd use of slow motion moments. :X

Which part did he play? I can't believe I missed that. I did pick up on the Gognitti line.. definitely a tie in to the second movie (which was proven by the very end sequence after the credit roll).

Agreed.

I know its hard to expect a good carbon copy of the game plot to adapt into a 2-3 hours film but even with the changes done for the film, the pacing is still slow and you will cringe at the ending.

Too bad I got kicked out from the cinema hall before I get to watch the credits till finished. (like ADM said in his post over at Alan Wake's forum, give credits where its due in this case Remedy)

Max Payne just about was the easiest movie not to mess up. Just follow the game script and there you go. Easiest money Hollywood could have made. Of course, I underestimate the stupidity of Hollywood executives. They are the only ones I know who can turn gold into lead.

Just got back from the movie and yeah, I'm disappointed like many people are. After the first trailer killed any excitement I had for the movie, I knew it wasn't going to do the game justice. An average movie at best. 5/10

P.s. Where was James McAffrey's cameo?

Been reading the reviews and impressions and.....wow. I know I said when it was announced that it would suck, but this is just disappointing after that first trailer. Though a flag was raised when the TV spots minus the Manson track didn't feel 'alive' to me. It was the choice in the track that made the difference, and thats not good seeing as the clips themselves should have sold the movie.

Sounds like a movie I'm skipping in theaters and waiting for the DVD/Blu Ray.
