ROTT
When using the command line cheats in rott and I was using the warp[level] one but when I put the number of the level I want togo to it starts up and you select new game etc then it goes to that level I put in but only comes up for about 2seconds then exits to widows with the game.frozen in a window with this message:
You cannot run this application in a window. The application will be suspended until you switch it to full screen.

Why does it do this for? When you just play rott without warping the games in fullscreen so why cant it do it when you use the warp command.
I'm using version 1.3 Full version.

Just found that you can only warp from level 1-3 and 5-37 dont work.
Also while I was progressing through the game, I had finished Episode 1, Area 3 and went through the door and then it goes onto the next level but it didint it crashed just like the warp thing from above.
Help me ?

Re: ROTT
I love this whole idea, guys. I've been a ROTT fan since the day shareware version 1.0 came out. How about getting a separate group together to make levels and skins/models for a newer engine, i.e. Quake III engine?

You can't do that if you use the name, any of the characters, sounds, music, graphics or anything from the original ROTT.

Besides, what's wrong with the current version of ROTT? It's about the gameplay, not some fancy schmancy engine.

Re: ROTT
These posts still dont answer the fact, that why is the game crashing on these particular levels.

The levels are not made up ones, they're the game itself on the registered full version of rott.

The command line cheats I got from the Book of the Offical Players Guide to Rise Of The Triad.

Re: ROTT
I am using windows 98SE
And AMD 1.3Ghz ,256Ram, 64MB Graphics Card

When I goto play the game I click on the rott exe and it starts up and I play.

I cleared all the windows shortcut keys and it still did the same as before, once I'd finished one level the next level shows up for about 2sec and crashes with the message.

Why has it decided to crash now in the game and why not at the very first level of the game once you complete that level?

Has anyone had this sort of propblem.
Thanks

Re: ROTT
Actually, we may not need to know what version of windows you are using. (It is obvious that it is 95 or later, that's all that matters.)
Ok, as far as I can tell, based on the problem you are having, it seems that you are running the game via the Start...Run. And typing in there. (Or possibly through a command prompt.)
But when you run the game normally - without the extra command line stuff, do you use a shortcut? (i.e. an icon that you double click)
Here's the deal, when you run a game in windows, there are certain windows short-cut keys which are normally very helpful. But in this case, they aren't. One of these short-cuts is alt+enter. This switches from full-screen to windowed mode. This is the most likely source of the problem you are having. (I think alt-space is another possibility.)
What you need to do is one of these:
1. (Recommended)
Create a new shortcut to ROTT. (Hopefully you know how to do this, so I won't go through it here.)
Then, right click on this new shortcut, one of the tabs (can't remember which one right now) displays a bunch of check-boxes at the bottom. Disable such short-cuts as alt+enter, alt+space, alt+esc. But I would leave alt+tab active.
You can also set the game to run in full-screen mode from this dialog box. (One of the other tabs, perhaps.)
Note, you can change the parameters, such as the level, through the tab that contains the command line to run the game. You will probably have to put the whole line in quotes.

2. This solution isn't recommended as much, since you will have to do it every time.
Run the game as you have normally. Once in the game, press Alt+tab to get back to your desktop.
Now RIGHT click on the button on the start bar that is ROTT. This will bring up a context menu, select Properties. Follow the same idea as above. (Disabling the short-cut keys)

P.S. Method two might just create a short-cut automatically for you, in the ROTT folder.

Hope this helps!!!

Re: ROTT
I take it you have tried reinstaling the game!

I think right clicking on the .exe will also give you the options mentioned above which will create a shortcut checking the box which protects dos memory might help too.

If you can get screen shots of the DOS optionsit might give us all a hint as what's wrong.

It sounds like a memory error to me do you get a blue screen or does it just dump you back into windows.

Alteratively try -Restart in MSDOS mode!
