Need help
Like JustSomeGuy, I want to make a TC. The main difference is that I want to use E-Duke. I need people that can:
Edit map screw-ups that I make. Create art (I can draw w/ my hands, not the board). Create weapons. E-Duke con editor. Possibly code new body jibs. Sound effects and Duke-type voices; comical phrases are encouraged. Web page editor (must be child-friendly). I do have some ideas: [Key: X=Art Provided] AK-47 for Automatic Pistol. (X) Chaingun for Ripper. Grenade Launcher for Pipebomb. Pistols (not auto) for Devastator. Flame Thrower for Freezer. Zombies. A few rednecks. (X) Toxins (BMD-12 Nerve Toxin and NSCV, Nervous System Control Virus). (X) Burnable haystacks. (X) Savable citizens running around. Demons, ghosts, and gouls. Some Creed midi's (provided). Name of TC: Back for More

OK. Both of you guys are up! Thanks for saying this is gonna be phat, man! I could use some suggestions for our group name if there's gonna be one. Also, for anti-racists, you'll get a chance to pop of the heads of race-supremesists. Or you could just blow them up.
Oh yes, I have also been able to change cheat codes. For example, I found (in C++ Visual Studio) two spots with <RESERVED>. I changed them to "secretonee" and "secrettwoo." The first ends the episode and show the movie. The second one ends the level, goes to the stats screen, and then you have to restart the level. I will not release such changes w/o 3dRealms' approval (it is correct that I can't change this w/o approval, right?).

Oh yes, I almost forgot. I'm also gonna make it so that you have to pick up certain items to upgrade weapons! An example: If you make it to a secret stage, you could upgrade the Chaingun to a rapid-fire rocket launcher, or the AK to a laser assault rifle.
I've also come up with a plan for the levels: Basic Levels: Small Town (Already Made) Beach Side Base The Underwater Base>SECRET (Acid Pistols) The Tanker Pirates! (Already Made)>SECRET (Laser Rifles) The Sub Again Total Assault>SECRET (Rapid Rockets) Cycloid Returns (Re-animation of Stadium) Secret Levels: Bad Fumes (Already made w/ glitches) Shock Treatment Ambushed Multiplayer Levels: Jail (Co-op.) Lead Mines (Co-op./DM) Space Assault (DM) Bust the Most (Competition, already made) In the Ring (Duke-tag, already made)

You may not be interested much in this, but I made a slightly better version of Stadium, which looks a lot more cooler. If you want to edit it in anyway, then you can. It also looks a lot more realistic.

I've made some progress. I have perfected the upgrade ability using the command 'setvar'. The bad thing is that I can't make the Freezer launch the Shrinkspark actor. I wanted the Shrinker to use the Freezespark (it could) and the Freezer to use the flame-edited Shrinkspark (mainly because I didn't want that blue transporter star to appear if the flame hits the wall). Now the art to the upgrades are simple: they're the words LASER, ROCKET, and ACID.
Another thought: changing the cheat codes. They'll still have the same prefix (ms), but you'll have to find the rest. I'll give you one: mstgglmap will toggle Full/Empty map (msshowmap). Yet another thing: I've come up with some phrases for a DN speech imitator to say. 1.Aw, whussamatta? Heh heh heh! 2.Someone ripped one! 3.You shootin' at me? 4.Pop a da head (Pop of the head)! 5.Take this you racist b#####ds! 6.Cry, freak, cry! 7.Next time, go to the bathroom THEN rip one. 8.I'll make your white hood go black with this flame! Five and eight were put there because my black buddies will have fun torching the KKK.

The old transporter star is easy to remove Manson, no need to delete art. In the actor:

How about this: I'm done with changing the shrinker into a flame launcher. When hit, enemies scream, blacken to a crisp, and spawn explosions to make it seem as if they're on fire. I attempted to make a screenshot but I looked for it and couldn't find it. If you'd like a demo for how far I've gone, click the mail at the bottom. It's v.01.

Being that I want this TC to have a reputation for receiving and granting (some) suggestions, I can throw out the flame thrower idea, and if you don't like it, give me an idea for a replacement. I could make it so that if you don't want the flamethrower, you don't get the flamethrower. But like I said, I need an idea for the replacement (unless you want to keep the shrinker).
And because of this, there will be two main versions: the basic (with all planned objectives) or custom (for those who are sick of the flamethrower). Custom will only effect the weapons, cheat codes, and smaller things, though. Enemies and larger settings must stay. Is there any other TC like this when it comes to granting requests?

Not sure if this is any help. If you like the flamethrower than keep it.
I use a RailGun. I have no clue how many TC’s got one as well. And honestly, I give a flying whatshallwecallit. It’s my TC. My design. My “Eraser”, with some eerie graphics and sounds. What I want in your TC? Is the best you can possibly do.

A webpage that has the new weapons, the upgrades, and the secrets to the levels listed. It will also have maps, cons, and links to other sites. It will include "Submit an Idea" for those who know a way to make this TC better.

I made dual pistols merely by changing the pistol graphic, shell graphic, and pistol strength. It looks great and didn't waste a weapon.
Fer tha flamethrower, just tell the transporterstar to spawn fire and kill itself. IT'S EASY MAN! sheesh...

{ ifspawnedby FREEZEBLAST killit } But instead the animation coninued when an enemy spawned and the star stays there, causing a "Too many sprites spawned." overload. Or how about this: Change the shrinker to shoot the Octa-blast. Has anyone tried that yet? And to the people that I sent preview versions to, what do you guys think of it? I think it's pretty cool. My brother asks me, "Roger, can you get it to where I can 'Pull a Matrix'?"

Not seen that before. Repeatedly. BTW Roger if you'r flame thrower is going to be basically a graphical replacement of the shrink ray, why not just make a lame rail gun eh? It'll be a lame flamethrower either way.

Thanks MBlackwell. And Diaz, that's the problem: I don't have any con workers. So far I'm the only one working on cons right now, and I can only do small effects such as burning enemies and weapon upgrade sprites. The big work I can't do. Like I said: I haven't mastered the OLD con work yet. And the rail gun: what's going to happen to the crystal? I still want the expander. It wouldn't look right without the crystal, would it?

Thanks, man. I could cover up the crystal; and afterall, the expander has totally different art!
And about E-Duke 2.1, how about total con control (PERIOD)? The only thing that would not change is the build engine. That would be... The EDUKE Engine. The total con control would suck for me because I probably wouldn't understand it. And the only thing that would be controlled are keywords such as "ifcanseeactor [ACTORNAME]" , "shootat [ACTORNAME][WEAPON]", "defend", etc. (see bottom). Explaining: ifcanseeactor [ACTORNAME]: If it can see the actor named [ACTORNAME], then... Ex- ifcanseeactor LIZTROOP. ifcanshootat [ACTORNAME]: If it can shoot the actor named [ACTORNAME],then... Ex- ifcanshootat LIZTROOP. shootat [ACTORNAME][WEAPON]: Shoot [WEAPON] at the actor named [ACTORNAME]. Ex-shootat LIZTROOP RPG isallieswith [ACTORNAME]: This actor is allies with [ACTORNAME]. Ex- actor LIZTROOP isallieswith LIZTROOP isallieswith LIZMAN isallieswith COMMANDER ifhitally [ACTORNAME]: If hit by its ally named [ACTORNAMED], then... defend: If it was hit by another "ally", make it attack its ally (like in Quake). Ex-ifhitally defend lookfor [ACTORNAME]: Look for the actor named [ACTORNAME]. And more like these.

By ACTORNAME, don't you think that's the same as ACTORID? And 'ifcanseeactor [ACTORNAME]'(Oops, I forgot. ACTORNAME means something like Lizard Trooper, so I'll change it to ACTORID because it sounds better!) is all you need? If this were true, it would see one actor and shoot the player. Remember that 'shoot' and keywords like this usually refer to targeting the player. That's why they can't make a successful helperbot with the current terms. There needs to be commands like these.

All you'd need is the "ifcanseeactor [ACTORID]" you'd want an actor ID, because mostly you'd use "findnearactor", etc. All the other commands can be executed by using findnearactor statements, etc. Also, if you have the action of an actor go everytime it's hit, it'll automatically face the actor that shot it. Or at least it should... it's worked b4. Anyways, what you want is easily possible (except the ifcansee) WITHOUT those commands. Besides, you don't want to use actor NAMES you'd want actor ID's, esp for that shoot command. otherwise it'd just go everywhere or nowhere or have no basis in the programming world.

Am I the only one who's figured out not to make enemies enemy class actors.....
There's code to make one actor face another ya know, and as long as what it's facing has hit-bit on then then there tends to be auto-aiming at what it's facing. You do understand that actor ID has nothing to do with what an actor was defined as, and instead with which sprite in was in the total number of sprites in a level (in other words, is it the 1st sprite, 100th, etc)?
