Again.. WHEN WE SOLD THE FRANCHISE WE SOLD ALL RIGHTS. If there's a Max Payne movie, we won't have anything to do with it.
Anybody else still need telling that?
Then tell take 2 to use johnny knoxville heheh.

I had a girly moment when I saw the pic of tim gibbs. He may not be my fav payne but he still damn fine.

I love my shallow moments. They make me feel alive

@Joe:
Does it also mean that the source material (i.e. source code, design sketches, original photos for the graphic novel, music, sounds, 3d-models...) for the MP games is property of Take 2?

Sorry if it's a little off topic...

That is correct - they own it all. Neither Remedy nor 3DR own any of that material anymore.

i think one of the best acting and look aliking goes to normal people who didnt make it to the Gladiator or Anger Managment or Matrx. but rather guys who were in movies such as Better Luck Tomorrow and Perfect Score. check it out! Willem Dafoe would make an intersting max. how about denis leary with robin williams being vinnie. chris rock being vlad. show us max's funny side! but seriously, Willem Dafoe would make an good max

well, i personally think that Agent Johnson out of the matrix reloaded would play a perfect max payne, maybe needs a deeper voice but i deffo think he looks the part.....

clicky here

Re: Max In A Movie?
Yeah, he looks the part but he's just a stuntman. Then you could as well take a soap actor like Timothy Gibbs who exactly looks the part. He already stated on the message board of his homepage that he would accept the part if it was offered to him.
I think the acting skills are more important than the looks.

Re: Max In A Movie?
First idea: If it wasn't needed to show Max's face at all (camera behind shoulder or...), we didn't have to decide who would be the best Max. Just put the origin voice.

But, there are those novel parts, which like there really should be some actor. Timothy Gibbs could be...

Re: Max In A Movie?
This thread is just speculation and wishful thinking. Nothing official has been announced about a MP movie.

Take2 owns the rights to the MP franchise. If there ever will be a MP3 they are going to decide who is going to develop the game. Remedy stated that they've got other plans than MP3.

Yeah! I'm also a bit hesitant about that. I don't remember any game based movie which would have been good. I have seen both Tomb Raider-movies and uhh.... On the other hand it would be cool if they managed to do a wonderful movie about MP, but there's always a risk.

Max Payne movie thread
I thought the Tomb Raider movies were among the better computer-game-based movies. Apart from a couple of ridiculous scenes I actually enjoyed watching them.
The trouble with game-based movies seems to be that either the filmmakers lack a certain passion for the material or they lack some serious directing skills.

Who would you like to see directing a MP movie?

Tomb Raider was...okay, Angelina Jolie made the movie watchable. The worst game movie was either Street Fighter or House of the Dead. This basically sums up the latter:

However, I think that a good game-movie will be made someday. Right now they're in the same state that, say, comic book adaptions used to be in, but hopefully game movies will take a similar path in the future.

John Woo would be perfect for the action scenes, so he'd be a perfect 2nd unit director for a MP movie. As a director for Film Noir I think he's a little too light. I haven't seen Paycheck, yet.
I bet David Fincher could do the dark mood of MP justice.

oh yes, i completely forgot about this fella. i doubt john woo would 'sacrifice' himself as a 2nd unit director though but again: dreaming is allowed

Agree, they can definitely do great action scenes like in the Matrix trilogy, and they can also do pretty dark movies like Bound.

@Moonwalker:
Sure, Quentin is an awesome director but I bet he will never direct anything that he hasn't written.

Street Fighter wasn't unbearable, but it was pretty bad. I have never seen Double Dragon, but that seemed like it would be worse than Street Fighter.

For a director, I want someone who can capture the action, violence, and humor as well as the Noir aspect. I'd go for Brian Helgeland (Payback) or Clint Eastwood who has shown a pretty good range.

Max: Al Pacino is too old, Sean Pean is too young (anyone notice how much Sean Pean looked like Al Pacino in Mystic River?). I agree with Christopher Meloni (Law & Order SVU) but don't know if he'd have the star power for it. Tough call and I still haven't come up with anyone good.

Mona: Though Jennifer Garner looks pretty dead on, her voice doesn't do Mona for me. Uma Thurman (she's a bit tall).
