Re: jetpack
I hope they mix things up a bit and make the jetpack more interesting. Take advantage of 3D and make it so that the jetpack has its own hitbox. So someone could shoot your jetpack and make it malfunction (after a number of hits, of course).

With full 6DoF. Imagine suddenly finding yourself flying upside-down along a long corridor, getting shot in the jetpack, and then doing an out-of-control spiral into the closest wall, *thud!* In first person, that would probably make you sick, but it would be funny. (possible Duke one-liner: Damn, now I gotta puke!)

From George:

That quote does sound familiar. When did he say that?

This may be an instance of the fans here having some influence. I believe at one time George had mentioned the jetpack would not be in. Most here thought it should be in game(at least in certain areas or specific levels tailored to it).

And while not wanting to derail the thread....I would be interested in finding out what kind of influence us "fans" have had on the decision making process with DNF ie: feedback, ideas. Maybe we'll get an answer someday.

Aww, the jetpack confirmation thread was the first one I saw on these forums, shortly after I got myself an internet connection. The first thread that proved to me that DNF is still alive, despite everything I heard after 2004 about DNF being cancelled.

That is good, I can see some situations where a jetpack might come in handy

Offtopic: I think nothing. The number of the active members it too little to form any representative group of people - the hard core duke fans at most. And also we don't know almost anything about the game so I suppose most the ideas we give does not fit in the DNF gameplay.

About the jet back I really hope it will present in the game. It was a lot of fun to use it in duke3d and I hope the usage of the jetpack will not be too limited.

I don't know if I have a quote lying around somewhere but I'm pretty sure someone from 3DR said some of the stuff we said DID influence them. Don't take me at 100% truth on that one since my mind could be playing tricks on me.

Could you be thinking of the old quote where George said everything in the game has been suggested on the boards at one point or another? Because I didn't take that to necessarily mean they got stuff from here, just that ideas have coincided.

Or is it the recent quote about taking in feedback generated by the teaser? That would be more accurate.

Well, didnt Mr. Brussard himslef said that he cant rember what ideas he took in from the forums and wihch came from the devs? He said something along those lines. So, we do have influence, but not that everything suggested comes in, but everything the fans wanted is back (Battellord, Shrinkray, Pigcops etc.) so I bet they also used some other suggestions/ideas here and there.
