Fallout 2 isn't a good sequel

Posted 09-05-2010 at 02:00 PM by December Man ((Survival)Gaming and Rants)

I've been thinking about this lately(aside from Duke Nukem Forever :p). Fallout 1 is one of the best games I have ever played, but FO2 is not a good successor. It is a lot bigger, has twice as much content at the very least, but...

The humor. It is one of the most praised elements of FO2, which I cannot understand. The humor is overdone, juvenile, contrived. Way too many easter eggs, to the point that finding yet another one stops making it special. A lot of it nonsensical "lol...

Disciples 3 - it sucks, why?

Boring combat, linear map design, lack of freedom in choosing a hero, preset artifacts, useless shops, no need to hire other heroes, stupid opponent AI, mostly crappy character redesign, poor voice acting, probably the worst narrator ever, bugs, bugs, bugs.

Add the fact, that 90% of the missions are ridiculously easy and the rest is only a tad hard and you've got yourself a disappointment of the year, assuming you loved the second installment like me.

And why add critical...

Why Mass Effect 2 isn't as good as its predecessor

I admit, I have to get it out of my system. As much as I like the game, it's a lot worse than the first one. It's not a bad game by any means, but it could've been much better. Everything, from the plot structure to gameplay elements, is flawed in a major way.

The story. It is not a part of the overarching plot - the Reapers as a threat to the galaxy. Instead we get a new villain, who was not even mentioned in the previous installment. It's established and finished with in this one...

About fear(no, not about the game)

Let's cut to the chase.

The most used means of scaring in today's horror movies are jumpscares and gore.

Jumpscares is what I don't call fear. It is not fear at all. It's like a surprise kick in the balls. It's surprising, it's painful, but it isn't scary. Awaiting a seemingly inevitable kick in the balls which never comes is fear - fear through tension and suspense. The anticipation of a powerful kick in the nuts can wreck havoc in one's psyche significantly more than...

Why Diablo II fails(Warning: Opinion)

When I finally got my hands on Diablo II I was sure it was going to blow my mind and/or my head off with sheer awesomeness. Installing it was a kind of ritual, getting ready to witness astonishment that can make my head explode.

As you can tell from the title of this post, it did not happen. Boredom came in quick, around Act II. Starting from this point I prayed that it might get only better. It only got worse. The goddamn-wtf-were-they-thinking midgets from the jungle made me say...
