Every once in a while ill get the urge to play games from my childhood.

So i figured ill go the legit route and buy used media.

Got myself a floppy drive for old dos games.
Also got a sega genesis, because theres a lot of classics that didnt hit the Wii's virtual console yet or seems never will.

Heres a few tips.

1.If the price is too good to be true, more then likely is.
For example.
Some people will sell it dirt cheap, but add a ridiculous shipping fee.

I caught this in the nick of time before sending my order.

2.If your buying old floppy's and even CD's.
Be sure it comes with the manual or anything that will prevent you playing the game.
This includes dongles and CD keys.

Seems a a copy protection trick among publishers back then, was to have you enter codes or words in the manual to proceed in games. :D

Oh but those old "Enter the 4th word from page 5" checks can usually be circumvented in the old stuff...

Yeah, the whole "enter codes or words in the manual to proceed in games" was pretty bad... for Flashback on PC that is. You had to do some silly puzzle to get it to install or something. There's a puzzle there stopping you from playing the game anyway. When I got my copy of the game the manual was photocopied so the puzzle didn't look correct :(

    One was indeed flashback.

    Installing and running wasnt problem.
Matter of fact i was gitty like a girl when i saw the the open scenmatic.

However that gittyness turned to uncontrollable roid rage when i saw the "insert blah blah word here".

All the old AD&D Gold Box games either had manual lookup or a codewheel word lookup.
