Duke Nukem for Wii Virtual Console?
Will Duke Nukem be available for Wii Virtual Console (both of them)?
I'd like to play these great games in Wii, but it's up to you guys at 3DRealms.

I would love to play it on the WII. It would fit perfectly with the controls but it would take some time getting use to.

Is it me? Or is it only the lazy people whinning over it the way the controller is. Its only gonna be $250, ps3 will be $600 (soon to increase) and xbox 360 still $400. What has me so gripped for the wii is that you dont just push buttons to do things. if your playing Legend of zelda: twilight princess, when you want to attack someone with the sword you dont just push a button (lazy and lame), instead you swing the controller like you would the sword. When your playing a baseball game, you swing the controller like you would the bat. They wont go bankrupt because only a few people dont like it, many people in japan would prefer the wii over the ps3 or 360.

IMO, the Wii would be good for some games, but not all. For example, Paper Mario would be terrible with the Wii remote IMO.

It's been looked into a few times since that feature was first announced; I don't know what the status of that is.

to add to that, nintendo is amed at a child audiance, they do not need graphics that are amazing. (for example, the unreal 2.5 engine will max out the wii's abilities, whereas unreal 3.0 will take the playstation 3 quite far, who knows, it may be cappible of more!)

its quantity over quality.
i personally havent been inpressed by nintendo after the gba and n64.
i dont like the ds, as its @$$ is handed to it by the psp (yeah the ds has a touch screen, but try playin it in a car!) and the gamecube had terrible controlers and game selection, not to mention additional things like the network adaptor which had only one game that playes on the internet (fanticy star online).

Maybe if you only care about graphics. The games on the DS are much more fun to play in my opinion. PSP has one too many ports and standard game types for my tastes, I prefer the unique and innovative titles that appear on the DS. Plus the touchpad play allows for much more varied game types.

again i say, if your playing in a car, it will be quite hard to handle, plus, the psp has titles not amed at kids as much. (such as medal of honor which is comming out) i do care about graphics, but my psp doubles as a web browser, mp3 player, video player, movie player and so on. (btw i do not do homebrew on my PSP!)

Oh, now I see what your post meant I thought you meant, "Hey, if you're going to get a Wii, PLEASE get a PS3!"

Anyway, I agree that Nintendo isn't a very good company for Duke to be with, but it would be awesome with that Wii remote! Besides, Zero Hour was good, even though there was no swears, nudity etc.

Thats what the virtual console is. I don't believe its possible nor plausible for the wii-mote to be used.

These are games that HAVE ALREADY BEEN RELEASED ON A NINTENDO PLATFORM. I'm not sure what the problem is here.

YA, they already have been and i see other games like Mortal kombat series and Resident evil being for gamecube are NOT kid-ftiendly but you also have to remember that the average american kid starts playing these types of games generally around 11-13 (unless you were baby-boomered and started at 16).

Re: Duke Nukem for Wii Virtual Console?
Nintendo has had 7 platforms and basically started the whole triggers and analog stick on a controller, They are one of the reasons why gaming is so popular. Also, whats the big deal over the controller, you hold one in one hand and that acts as the putton pressing one and the other in the other hand and that acts as the movement style (from what i've been reading).

I'm glad 3DRealms is giving the idea some consideration; it would be great to have some Duke games on the Wii.

Joe, if the virtual console was an option, would 3DR overhaul the game a bit? Or would they simply re-release the N64 version? (Is that even possible considering it was produced by a separate company?)

Related question: Would be be against the Duke3D source code agreement if a port was to be made for the Wii? (Even though porting it is in itself a difficult task)

Re: Duke Nukem for Wii Virtual Console?
Was a huge Nintendo fan (over Sega back in the day), but I think Nintendo's stance on regulating the games ala Walmart style was a sign of what was to come.

I remember the MK days - very popular at the time. SNES version was still the better version to get, despite the fact that the Fatalities changed (and no blood). However, I still feel ripped off by not being able to do my fav all-time Sub-Zero fatality. Even MK2 was a good port on the SNES.

The SF series was less serious, as it didn't have fatalities, but their blood turned into "sweat". Not as noticable as the MK series, which was way more violent.

Nintendo was definately worried about that fine line of "marketing for kids, or teens/adults?"

I felt the end of Nintendo really started at around the N64 (they still had a good rep going to survive the Virtual Boy - the N64 was their second chance, and they failed). Not to say it was all bad - there were some very good games for it - just that there were more choices on the PS and then the PS2.

When the Game Cube came out, my brother and I never bothered even to look into it. We aren't even looking at the Wii either. The main consoles we are looking at are 360 (which we own), and the PS3. Mostly because are taste in games changed (and Forza 2 and GT5 is what we really want to play).

Well, that's your opinion dude. And this thread is about the possibilty of bringing Duke 64 and Zero Hour to the Wii Virtual Console, not about your console preferences.

If we're talking virtual console, how about releasing a version over Xbox Live Arcade?

Original Doom was released last night over XBLA and it's really sweet... cleaner resolution, 4-player split-screen, co-op and online DM, took everyone by surprise and is looking to be an instant hit on Live. However, the almost unanimous retro title of choice of posters over at teamxbox forums right now is Duke 3D...

I would really want Duke 3D on the Wii, that would be cool

I also read, that someone said that they should not release it on the Wii, because it's "aimed for kids"... I can't see why they shouldn't release it on the Wii then... If there's too many kiddy games for it, then it's actually an EVEN better reason to get Duke on it, to have more action for it...

Seriously, if people complain about it being too much aimed for children, then why not get more adult games/content in it, instead of excluding them..? That doesn't make sense...

Yes, it is. Zero Hour is a great game, I still play it to this day. Much better than Time To Kill (haven't played Land Of The Babes yet). I'd recommend you buy it.

I tried land of the babes, it wasn't that good... and time to kill too... not good either...
I didn't like the feel of the gameplay in those two games, i actually only liked the Quotes of Duke and some of the other Duke humor... the gameplay sucked...

I'll have to get Zero Hour... if it comes to Wii, i WILL get it...
