those borders look like original 8-bit to me. Marked, are you using any art straight from the original tile? If you are then don't do that anymore becuase putting that texture into the HRP can get the whole HRP shut down and stuff.

They're nothing like the original 8-bit. Seeing as the original 8-bit is posted a few posts up next to the new one for comparison, it's easy to see.

Its all original. I created the border one rectangular side at a time. I filled it with gradient color to match original then applied a texture filter to it. Then I created the detail button areas using a 1 or 2 pixel wide brush, and copied and pasted them where needed throughout the tile. If it looks that close to original to you than I guess its a compliment to me.

you've done a good work, but please fix that... well that blurry square (look at the image)... don't understand why, but it makes the whole border looks blurry...

Originally when I made the tile I didn't like how those little buttons looked so I used the "soften" brush to even them out a little.

What I did now was take the button backround color and trace a hard edge around those buttons. It cleaned up the look of them slightly. But it may already be in the new HRP as-is. I think most players will be noticing the alignment problem rather than the buttons when playing the game

A little dirt/darkening added on the left and touched up on the right so all the vent louvers don't look identical from the copy/paste.

Well I tried to bring it in to the "3rd dimension" with some highlights and bevels. As you probably have seen from my other tiles I usually struggle a bit with this part.

EDIT: I've added a second version with an attempt to make the side panels louvered.

marked, I don't really like the shadow effect you added to the border... the shadows are too squared, not natural... the panels of the second version are better, but they seems to have lost definition (more blurred)... keep the old borders and try to add definition to the side panels instead

sure, they looks better in terms of definition, but the shadow effect are unnatural... he should try to "soften" them...

I agree. Some are just an application of smoothing in a few spots. Another is re-application of texture to the side panels. Or sharpening of a detail here and there. I have my favorite among them but I'm hoping the others will be able to decide on one closest to what they like.

( or maybe the "official judge" needs to step in) :0)

No offense, but you REALLY look like a criminal! Fits the tile well!

Well, I wanted to look scary, too. So I thought my place would be #4384. If others want to get their face into the game, there are still some "Wanted" posters left (#4381-4383, 4399, 4409, 4889)!

I'm actually suprised that these tiles were still available. I thought others would have wanted to do this to "make their mark" in the game like the 3dr team did.

Indeed. But if you really searched thoroughly, you would also find it in the HRP readme and in the credits of the HRP site. Along with the real names of some other people involved in the project.

People normally run away when i show up, say i looked like a murderer, strange thing is, there was one murderer a while ago that did look a lot like i do.

Well if you still want to have a special guest appearance in "Pigsty", you shouldn't waste too much time with your personal tile. Final HRP compilation will take place within upcoming week.

Not hard. You need a pic of yourself, any of the "Wanted" posters (for the lower part of the "Wanted" section) and some tool to write text into it. I did the whole thing with GIMP, using the Paper texture from it as a fill color for background.

Edit:

My first attempt, i have a .ufo copy (Uleads format, stores layer & objects etc) so i can change stuff if it's needed.
Did 4382, coz the guy looks weird, and people often say i am - i argue that im eccentric.


It's a wee bit big to upload according to 3dr, so it's over there in .png format.
I didn't use any compression, but i can put some on or change format.

It'd be well awesome if this actually got in, i might check the todo list tomorrow, have a go at some other stuff, i don't know yet.

For this tile, a res of 376x336 is sufficient. If you rescale it to that res, it should be usable. Maybe also get a bit more space between (description) text and image. Other than that, no problems.

376x336 version replaces the old one in previous post, corrected text, but had to remove one line of it - i didn't think it looked right going too far down - so it's just "gaming" now.

The original wanted posters were of the people who made Duke 3D, were they not? So wouldn't it make sense to keep it that way?

And, if they are going to be changed to pics of new people, then logically they should be the people who are the biggest contributors to the HRP. Tea Monster would surely be one of these, but not hightreason (or me, or any number of other people).
