Your Number 1 choice of publisher?
With the "ongoing" lawsuit between 3D Realms and Take-Two, there is only speculation to do,
and while this topic surely has been brought up here, it could still be fun. Imagine if 3D Realms wins the case, but only that, break free from Take-Two's clutches in addition to getting some money for various reasons. What publisher would you find best choice for 3D Realms to go to, in terms of effiency, economy and liability? My personal choice would be Electronic Arts considering they can make "it" happen, but also because they have a nice marketing apartment and a strong foundation. With the right power overseeing the development of DNF, 3D Realms could at the same as being given privacy to secure highest quality possible also finish development in time. Your thoughts? //Rösti |

Re: Your № 1 choice of publisher?
I totally disagree with that, I want a PC version of DNF if it is ever revived(Which I doubt at this point) and a Windows Live free one.

Re: Your № 1 choice of publisher?
You guys actually want EA to touch DNF? Since most of what EA touches turns to crap, sounds like extreme desperation to me lol.

Re: Your Number 1 choice of publisher?
Why should we be wishing for another publisher? 3DR was always very proud of the publisher having zero impact on DNF's development. After twelve years of developmental indecisiveness, they are denied help and now it's a new publisher we need?
No matter what game we would end up with, it wouldn't be the game we were waiting for. Duke is dead and should be buried where he lies. |

How about: "Whoever will get the game out the door?"
At this point it seems that it would require someone with a fair bit of cash and a bullwhip. |

Re: Your № 1 choice of publisher?
Hardware sucks on a legendary echelon, they siphoned good developers with Gates' mass of cash in order to get a foothold on the market creating a nauseating homogeny (wtf, why does Firefox not think homogeny is a word?), their profiteering tactics are mind blowingly inconsiderate to their customers, and I can never get those horrible twenty minute infomercials out of my head of people talking about the XBox' having this "secret sauce" and yet never elaborating. They just plain piss me off as a company.

Re: Your Number 1 choice of publisher?
Why would anyone subject DNF to EA, they would just cluster-**** it with DRM and ingame advertising like the BF series and make it an overall horrible experience to even get installed.

Re: Your Number 1 choice of publisher?
Why are we even asking for another publisher??
Take Two has the rights. 3d realms is looking for investors or an external dev team

IM not buying the game if I see EA logos on. (they will add stupid ingame advertising, points and statements like "EA presents" , "..an EA Game" , plus DRM) Just don't even think about it , EA is a lot worse than Take 2

There is absolutely no postive reason to want it to be Microsoft and some reasons against it. EA Partners is the best publisher out there for independent devs.

Maybe they want their DNF on XBOX?! Surely if MS takes it they will consider making a console version.

ever. For independent developers , IT'S A HELL FOR THEM. Destroyed Westwood and C&C, and countless other studios. Don't say something you don't remotely know about, or are you some EA spy here!? EA Partners is just a part of EA publishing services. Microsoft's a crap too, destroyed ENSEMBLE! (Now What will happen with Age of Empires) What am I saying anyway , just from a standard viewpoint EA and M& are the worst game publishers/developers.

Re: Your Number 1 choice of publisher?
Apogee Software , just remind me, why they can't publish DNF themself today? They did that with DN3D, or maybe things today are more difficult?

Re: Your Number 1 choice of publisher?
It has nothing to do with publishing the game from an independent studio. You don't need to be in EA's EVIL EMPIRE to publish a game.

Re: Your Number 1 choice of publisher?
Age of Empires progressively cost more to make, and progressively made less money per $ invested with each new game to the point where it was clear to do more was going to cost more than it would earn. That is not Microsoft's fault... the market had shifted but Ensemble was not shifting with it (at least public knowledge, I have no idea if they were trying to do anything internally to evolve that Microsoft stopped).

I'd like to see Apogee publish it actually. I never understood why they didn't in the first place. For that matter why did they stop publishing at all?

Re: Your Number 1 choice of publisher?
EA, with crysis they showed us they are ready to pump millions in innovations...
also the C&C franchise is still very alive and kicking... Also their publishing relation with Bioware is extremely supportive... Microsoft doesn't care jack shit about the PC platform... so no thank you for DNF...

What innovations did we see in Crysis? Besides the aggressive PR campaign, which didn't work at all.
