Duke3D for Wii
Hi everyone,

Does anyone know where I can find the Duke3D game for the Nintendo Wii? Also DukesterX for the Nintendo Wii.

As a matter of fact, yes, I do.

Well, I believe that you'd be talking about Duke Nukem 64 being revived for Wii, most likely, since that was on the N64. I'm thinking that's pretty much the version you'd have to expect for the Wii, I would have to think... That's Ninty's call, not 3DRs.

Right, and even if there were a cartridge slot for N64 games on the Wii, chances of finding DN64 anymore would be slim to none, and I don't know if Nintendo or 3DR have any plans on re-releasing DN64 on Virtual Console at all.

It would only be worth having a Wii version if someone ported it with Polymost intact and with the same freelook control scheme from the Wii Quake port. It works better than expected and actually made me play through Quake again.

For a similar experience, you could try using your Wii controller with your PC.
Once you've set this up, hook it up to a widescreen or a projector, play Duke3D + HRP + DukePlus = FUN

Actually it's 3D Realms call.
Of course, Nintendo would have to approve it.

You could hack an existing N64 Virtual Console channel WAD file for the Wii and inject the Duke Nukem 64 ROM into it and install it on your Wii via the Twilight Hack, Homebrew Channel, and WAD installer. But it's not guaranteed to work.

Yeah, Duke Nukem 3D on Wii might be nice. Some guys have put flash games on a Wii, so could it be possible to make Duke Nukem 3D as Flash version (stupid idea)?

cheers to that.
I'm tempted to put the Duke port on my PSP again, but memory space is an issue for me.
hell, I'll even put it on my ps3 with linux, but i dont know how well that will work.
give it some time, its coming to the Wii soon enough. just wait for the homebrew guys

heh, at this rate,
ppl will be porting it to Fridges and toasters

If someone wants to pick up the development, tueidj has already a working port of EDuke32 running on the Wii!
You can watch it in action here and check the details here:

I'm on the EDuke32 team and I'll talk with TerminX, Plagman, and Helixhorned about merging his changes back into mainline and working on them. Some of the stuff that tueidj mentioned is probably also necessary for an Android port.

Wow... I am without text.

I don't want to hurt anyones feelings who does these things, but...
WHY the HELL is it that some smart "guys" can port seemingly, ANYTHING to ANYTHING, fix stuff, improve stuff etc, and the original companies don't seem to be able to do these sorts of things. I am talking about DooM, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, and dozens of other games I play and am aware of... why is it that "companies" don't do these things, and "just some smart programmers" can?

Again, I do not know most of the people who does these sorts of things, and I mean them no disrespect. John Carmack greatly enjoyed making ports... one of his favorite challenges. So I have to wonder if all of you guys are John Carmacks waiting to happen?

Amazing...

Re: Duke3D for Wii
For a PS3 port we would need 1) someone to get the ball rolling who has experience on the platform (like tueidj for Wii) and 2) PS3s to develop on.

Maybe they'll make a Wii version if they can figure out how to remake the X360 Arcade version to work with Kinect.
