I thought teasers were made to make you want the game even more (teasers get it?). Doesn't really work with this.

It doesn't look like real. If it is, it just took another two steps further from the original.

Bottom line... You're not getting my money. It's not evolution to completely reimagine the look of a character, the design of the game series, and everything inbetween.

Its using name recognition on an entirely new concept to sell it. Its that simple, and anyone who doesnt see that is plain kidding themselves.

That guy neither looks, nor feels, anything like Max Payne. and I mean even an old overweight and bald Max Payne, I see no likeness.

I want.... no, screw that, I need to hear the new voice actor for Max, we need to hear the dialog and the writing.

page 2 from that link:
More than 10 staffers traveled to the city to take reference photos, gather information, and generally soak up what they refer to as the “vibe” of the city. They even took the unprecedented step of bringing down equipment to perform 3D scans of locals to make sure their pedestrian and enemy models were authentic.

“We shipped down all this 3D scanning equipment, had all sorts of problems with customs,” Nelson recalls. “We scanned hundreds of people. We worked with a casting agent. We told them what we wanted and they sent us hundreds and hundreds of images. The people came in and just brought their own clothes usually and we scanned them.”

What does that sound like?
I have heard that before.
Oh, yes.
Thats it.
FarCry2

A great fps that got trashed by realism and open-ended sandbox whatever you want to call it boredom.

Starting to sound REAL familiar.

---------- Post added at 09:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:29 PM ----------

Sigh.

page 4:
"While the core Bullet Time mechanics are being refined to present an even more fluid gameplay package, the team is also using slow-motion techniques in new ways, internally called “Environmental Bullet Time.” Basically these moments are similar to the quick-time events that occur in many third-person action games, but with a difference. The player has full control at all times, and is able to use the slowed down tempo of Bullet Time to pull off maneuvers that would be too difficult at full speed. One example Rockstar revealed occurs in the favela. After vaulting over a wall, Max slides down a tin roof, artfully picking off enemies on each side as he descends. While Rockstar says most of the game is still primarily focused on gunplay, Barrera did hint at more “surprises” in store for players in the form of special set pieces."

Oh.
Wow.
How neat.
We have bullet time.
We have our own brains.
But YOU (rockstar) still find it necessary to provide us with semi-scripted quick time events with bullet time (which we can use on our own when we feel the need, mind you), to what? 'enhance' our gameplay experience? Maybe on a console. Definitely NOT for pc.

Sigh.

The more they say, the more I dont want to play.

I bet there is no on-demand save system either.

They say nothing about making the gameplay realistic and open-ended. All they did was capture some settings and characters for reference.

I think he was talking more about the fact that they're getting hung up on the authenticity of the enviroment, vs being authentic to the world of Max Payne.

I would say that the original two had a very realistic style NY, and just because R* is doing their homework on the setting doesn't mean they are not focusing on getting the MP feeling in the game. I really don't understand what people are looking for in this game. It seems to take a logical next step forward for the franchise. Max is at rock bottom and goes and tries to start a new. Doesn't seem too far fetched to me.

You'd be wrong, though. The thick of the criminality lies on its periphery. SP's metropolitan area's violent crime rate, while not insginificant, is considerably lower than NYC's.

As a brazilian citizen, I'm still puzzled on why they went with SP instead of Rio. They're already using Rio's imagery on the wrong city, for god's sake. Their "we went there to look at the architecture" talk most likely stands for "we looked up a bunch of misinformed shit on wikipedia". Vertical favelas are a Rio thing, SP's poor areas have baixadas or "barrancões", technically. From the few screens I've seen, they also got the geography of a favela completely wrong, too.

90% of people's complaints here are retarded. What's important for a Max Payne game is the story telling and the feel of the world and Max in it. It doesn't matter one bit if he's in Finland or New York.

Complaining about them sending people down to research when that's exactly what Remedy / R* did for the first game is another highlight in here.

I don't like him being bald and fat either, but that's about the only reasonable thing to complain about, and it's still not "unrealistic" according to the two games already released.

No, im sorry, our opinions are not retarded.

The character doesnt look or feel like Max Payne.
The addition of QT bullet time events sounds redundant.
The new enviroment doesnt look or feel like a Max Payne game. It lacks that signature Max Payn feel.

This is the general theme of our complaints, and it is not retarded. Its right on the mark.
