"I guess I'll reconfirm what I said last night. That's an in game, real-time shot of Duke standing in a random hallway. It was really done as a small teaser for a job ad on Gamasutra.com. Nothing more.

I'm glad some of you enjoyed it, and we'll show more later as we start to wake from our slumber and decide how best to show the game off."

Anyone really confirm what this screenshot is, besides a picture of duke obviously? I see it says "real-time" but real-time doesn't exactly describe/confirm what we are truely seeing. Is this a real-time CGI sequence? A real-time game-play footage? Honestly to me, it looks like a real-time CGI sequence, but at the off chance its actualy a screenshot of game-play footage it looks ******* awesome.

Re: What Screenshot?
yeah well you know as much as we do looking good hey? Cant wait for more As far as i am concerned if this game is mostly Veges, desert, secret EDF bases, and SCI FI all the way then there is no way it can loose.

I think the pic is a orbital camera shot of Duke during the game while he is standing near a window on board a space ship or space station. Some thought the planet that you can see is Georges thumb but I believe it is either Mars or Jupiter. I think it would be real cool if 3DR explains this shot that the gaming world studied when the time is right for them to do so.

It's nota CGI sequence... because then George wouldn't have had said "in-game" and "real time" in the same sentence...

In a very twisted way, he could actually mean that it's a video clip, that plays off "in game" while the game is running (duh) in "real time"...
But that just sounds wrong...

And why shouldn't it be in game anyways..? Crysis can look like this (even in DX9 mode), and that game is coming out earlier than DNF... it's just natural to assume that DNF would look alike, when it actually comes out later...

Re: What Screenshot?
We have exhausted these questions already in the 50 pages of discussion on the picture. It could have been done in the pause menu with engine commands (rotate the camera around to get a shot of Duke for the prospects); we have no real idea of where it is taken (the screen is too small to make an accurate and non-debatable assertion of what the picture is of).

They probably used all these years of development to make the room of a spacestation and a Duke 3d-model. :P
But now that they woke up from their slumber,
they can finally start with the actual game.

The station had to be big...

To room enough to both Duke's Ego, and his awesomeness emitting from the screenshot...
It's too concentrated as full size, that's obviously why they used a small GIF version instead...
Forum only died for a few minutes, so it did work i guess...

The thread is still hilarious, delete the last 15-20 pages and it's Archive material.
