I mean, this being the 3drealms forum and all. Did your interest pique with the new screenshots and trailers?

p.s. I intended this to go in other gaming discussions.

I'm excited about what it could end up being, but I can't say I anticipate it or even think of it often. Though whenever there's new media or hype or whatever, I'm there. I think this way of "waiting" is the best for your sanity.

I'm a bit "meh" about it. Have been for a while actually. It's a hard to stay excited about something that's been in development for over a decade. That's not to say that I'm not curious to see what 3DR has been up to all this time.

To be honest, I've lost interest. The latest screenshot is pretty cool but I didn't get excited over it like I would have maybe a year ago. I'm more curious just like Mountain man. If it comes out, cool. If it doesn't, don't really care

"New"? The last trailer was from December 2007 and the last screenshots were from this past September. I was really pumped when I first saw the trailer, however.

Depends what you mean by anticipating.

My interest isn't even close to what it was circa 1998-2002, it's mainly curiosity now.
As for the 'recent' media, it actually makes me look forward to DNF less rather than more.
Not only do I dislike the current visual style in general (as seen in lots of post-Doom III games), but I also think it is unsuitable for DNF in particular.

There is still the faintest glimmer of hope in the back of my mind, but I'm 99% convinced that however the game turns out, it will be too little far too late for me.

I've been on pins and needles for months now.... maybe I'm unreasonably optimistic, but I never felt so certain about it actually coming soon.

The other thing is 3DRealms is not like some big Activendilizzard type of operation that may actually dump their Brands for some new puzzle game or a line of fitness software or something... For whatever it's worth, I tend to think owners and managers should be close with their products.

It'll come eventually, and I'll certainly buy it, but I no longer think it will be all it could have been. So much time and so many other games have passed that there's not much left in the gaming world to "wow" me anymore. Duke could have done that five years ago, but I'm afraid now that whenever he does return, the character will feel a little bit long in the tooth and the game will have a bit of a "too little, too late" feel to it.

Love to be wrong, though.

Scott Miller said they were pushing for late 2008 but would probably miss that "by a couple of months". That's why I didn`t expect anything so far.
But if it doesn't come out this year they will lose a lot of credibility, period.

As I don't believe they are willing to screw up again I'm still curious - but I'm not really hyped about it anymore, too late for that. The screenshot was fair, nothing more.

Foreplays aren't meant to last a lifetime

I love Duke. I still play Duke 3d and DNMP quite regularly. I have a feeling this year may be the year like some others have felt, but it's also too little too late. With so many other amazing games that have come out with stunning visuals, memorable characters, and great gameplay the main thing that may still set this game apart is Duke himself even if it takes another decade for this thing to come out.

Don't worry though. Until then, who needs to release new content when you still make tons on old stuff? I think a Playstation network port of Duke 3D will be in the future.

I wish we'd had something else in between. I wish they had released one of the multiple versions they produced inbetween 1996 and today. There has been 4 extra incarnations of Doom and 4 versions of quake. We're even on our 2nd HL2 expansion pack fer gawdsake.

As Grande 3:16 said,we have all progressed to a completely different phase of our lives while waiting for this game to come out.

From the time DNF started to now we've had

Duke Nukem Time To Kill(1998)
Duke Nukem Land of the Babes(2001?)
Duke Nukem Zero Hour(1999)
Duke Nukem GBC (1999)
Duke Nukem Manhattan Project(2002)
Duke Nukem Mobile Series (various)
Duke Nukem XBLA (2008)

There have been quite a few games released. Sure it's been a little thin the last few years, but come on. It's not like the Duke franchise hasnt had tons of games.
