2D-3D?
Ok guys, I just cannot switch 2D mode to 3D mode. I have Builder in the Bin folder, and well nothing but some colors (not very nice though) appear, and when I try to move or something nothing happens.
Can anyone gimme a good answer for this? |

Re: 2D-3D?
Do you have BUILD in the Duke3D folder[where the game is at? Also, did you extract all the art[cmd line: kextract duke3d.grp *.art]?
Without the art, you appearantly can't see anything in BUILD. ------------------ "Why is it the muscleheads in this group are so vain?" - Paula "Ask Duke, he's teaching everyone." - ESSence |

Re: 2D-3D?
Build needs to be in the *same* folder as the Duke3D game, or you won't see anything in 3D mode.
It's not necessary to extract the artwork unless you're going to use Build (and the art files) in a different directory.

Re: 2D-3D?
Thank you guys for your help. Now I can see some, but still I have a question: I am also playing DN 3D Atomic version, and I wonder if Build would work well too. I can see the graphics and all, but after 10 seconds of walking around, I get an error message. Again, thank you so much!!!!

If you are trying to use the original BUILD vers.1.3d with the atomic vers, that won't work. You need to use the Build vers. 1.4 that comes with the Atomic vers. |

Re: 2D-3D?
If you mean the error message "Crash Address at ......" comes up it is usually caused by too much running at one time! If you are running a user level instead of the games original levels then try to reduce the number of sprites in one area of your map!
Also in Windows Dos (MSdos prompt) try to run as little aplications as possible. OR shut down and restart in DOS which should have less chance of that error message coming up! ------------------ Nintyrules: The Nintendo club. Join now! Nintyrules |

Re: 2D-3D?
Edgy is wrong! you MUST have sprites in your sectors for different effects. Also the crash address happens usally for no reason-save your level every time you go into 2d mode so that if build does crash, you wont have to re do so much. I was building a level and build crashed when i had only one sprite!!!

Re: 2D-3D?
Oh i forgot to say; levels made by 3d realms have thousands of sprites in just a few sectors. bare that in mind!

Hey Dukestar (better known to me as my brother)
You were the person who told me that when my levels kept crashing! And gettting rid of sprites does work! ------------------ Nintyrules: The Nintendo club. Join now! Nintyrules |
