Merry Christmas from 3D Realms
Or if you celebrate something besides Christmas, merry that, too. We at 3D Realms wish to extend a safe and happy holiday wish to all our site visitors. We hope your holiday season brings you something joyful, and something fulfilling. We'll see you on the flip side of the holidays.

In the meantime, we head out to Christmas break with this small treat for you. Due to (how shall we say it), "popular demand", here is a new Duke Nukem Forever wallpaper image.

We have several image sizes available. You can click on your selected image size to download the one you want.

Widescreen: [ 2560x1600 | 1920x1200 | 1680x1050 | 1440x900 ]
Fullscreen: [ 1600x1000 | 1280x800 ]

Those of you who follow our forums regularly might remember this image turning up in a posting from George's twitter feed. It was used on wrapping paper by Allen Blum in our company gift exchange.

Who's the other big one there? The emperors wife?

Those are some mean ass aliens. The emperor, around the eye kinda reminds me of the Brain Bug from Starship troopers. Love the look of them!

Quick question for GB/3dr. Are those aliens at their correct relative scale in the pic?

I knew about this. It was all my idea.

Kidding. Kidding.

It's AWESOME.

I noticed it's different from the wrapping paper.

The enemy under the Cycloid has more armor and a helmet.

It's AWESOME.

I would guess the same thing. New boss reminds me of the Overlord without the rocket launchers attached to his shoulder.

Anyways, they're looking very nice. Good work!

Sweet. Merry xmas.

Any reason for the lack of AA, though? Perhaps the lighting system won't allow it? Look at the Pigcop's hair...

Apparently its because they use a Gears of War type of hair, which I have to say, doesnt bother me at all.

Read a post over at Shacknews and someone said the other huge enemy is a Battlelord, so it's possible it could be that.

Oh, I thought it had to do with the deferred rendering method the engine used, i.e. the same technology that prevents U3E games (Bioshock, UT3, Gears) from having AA. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone?

That type of hair is seen in many games this days, I think MGS´s hair is something that looks like that.

What I meant, is that, we know they use an engine based on Unreal 2, but heavily modified, with that in mind, i couldnt assume the hair looked like that because of a limitation of their tech.

Yeah I remember this discussion came up when the teaser shot and the XBLA shots were released, and I'm fairly sure it was because the engine uses this method.

The enemies look fantastic. I'm guessing the big one at the left is the Overlord.

The one at the right of the pig cop should lose the mask though

Are these the same models that are used in-game? If so, great

Re: Merry Christmas from 3D Realms
Dunno if I'm reading too much into this, but notice around the edges of the place they're standing it has this sort of "scratched" look to it... then notice that this "scratched" look goes over onto the character models too. Is this an indication of added effects done after the screenshot was taken? To me it honestly looks like it's been done up in a way I'd expect to see pictures done for a magazine or something... not speculating there, just saying it's how it looks...

BTW... I LOVE THIS PIC SO MUCH I'M GONNA PRINT IT UP AND SLEEP WITH IT TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

vivftp, That's just the background.

One question.

What's will all the blue/grey armor?

Even the EDF armor (that we know of) looks the same.

Also, I noticed the Octabrain is charging up.
