Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
Mouse Aiming and mouse movement in general seems a little off. Or maybe it's just me.
If mouse aiming is set to toggle, it's impossible to turn it on. When the mouse aiming key is pressed, a message is displayed saying that mouse aiming was turned off, even though it was never on. Mouse movement feels a bit jerky. Doesn't feel as smooth as JFDuke3D, but it's still perfectly playable. I'm running the game at 1280x1024 32 bpp, if that helps any. Other than that, no problems so far. |

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
Damn that was quick...
But yah, didn't someone say you had a copy before the release (Ken too I bet), to help prepare it for public usage? I guess you got a head start. Thanks

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
Just ran through a bit of the first level, and things are looking terrific. The only problems I've had so far: a lack of CD sound (I haven't messed with settings much, so maybe I overlooked it); and the 3D sprites aren't working for me. I didn't see that as a known issue, so I thought I'd mention it.
Edit: Ahh, darn. The release notes mentioned lack of CD sound. I will leave my blind idiocy up for all to see. |

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
I've ran through it a bit and the only problems I could find were the fact that the cd music doesn't work and that the game runs a tad laggy and choppy. One bug was weird though, in level 2/3 of the shareware episode I remember having to run that vehicle you had to fix through the wooden boxes. Well that didn't work, strangely enough
I found something else though.. I was bummed that I could never get JfDuke to run in full-screen and gl at the same time .. but with JfSw it works Awesome! Edit: just noticed the cd music thing has already been mentioned above. The voxels díd work here though. Final edit: Forgot to mention that if you press F7 you can still see the weapon at the bottom of the screen. I don't know if this is supposed to be like that so if it is forget I said anything.

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
Hrm, if you mean Voxels, I believe, I could be mistaken, that they dont work in polymost... I remember in a JFDuke discussion that someone had mentioned that Voxels do not work in polymost... So don't quote me on that, but if your talkin about voxels that might be why

Voxels are it. Well, I guess those items will be taken care of eventually by the model makers.

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
You guys can have your SW I just hope JF keeps up w/ Duke.. ROR on duke, and I'll be in heaven.... Put a map on hold just so I can wait for JF duke(or Eduke) to support that feature!

And besides ROR, someone talked about the possibility of vehicles being ported to Duke!

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
The mouse aiming toggle keeps switching so rapidly while the key is pressed that it might look like it's turning off. I have to fix the repeating issue in the next release. The jerky mouse input is also to be addressed along with the other mouse input quirks people are seeing.

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
Can`t get it go... It fails to identify my Sidewinder 3D (which it tries by default), then all controlls are lost. No keyboard, no mouse... I am stuck on the main menu and nothing moves, can`t do anything, but to exit through the task manager. Any ideas?

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
Can still use F2/F3 to save/load.
at the start of level 2, I tried to save and it crashed (or intentionally exited?). There's a game0.sav file, 8KB. I can see the savegame (complete with the name I gave it and the mini screenshot) but trying to load it crashes it. |

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
Woo! First error message!
Okay, running the game, even without changing any settings, brings the following error: "Failed setting buffering: DI_POLLEDDEVICE" From there, I cant move to any menu items, the app seems to accept no keyboard input. Normal windows command work (ctrl-alt-del, windows key) Wait a sec, just figured it out. I had by Xbox controller plugged in. A soon as i took it out and re-fired SW, it worked perfectly. Anyway, its still a bit of a bug report, as I hadn't selected to use the joystick, only mouse and keyboard. Meh. Huge round of applause to you Jonof! Now we can finally play SW in all its glory! *hugs monitor* *EDIT* Whoops, Another Duke Fan posted exactl;y the same thing while I was typing. Sorry mate, didn't mean to

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
My mouse acts up with this game
from time to time, during a movement of the mouse (say up) it reverses for a very brief moment, sometimes bringin my view either way up or way down. Makes it really hard to aim... besides that everything looks to work pretty sweetly!

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
great stuff, it ran no problem, but a few 'bugs'
saving game by f2 resulted in a crash weapons still visible when using f7 view mode IMPORTANT: for some reason all monsters (i tested it in 1st level) always play alot of their PAIN sounds (ninja's most noticeable) and very few of their 'ambient' sounds, it never happened in original game, now it sounds like you're playing coop or something! anyway great work for a first port release! |

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
BTW, some minor bugs or quirks you guys are encountering might very well be due to the game code that was provided in the first place. Since it was kludged together from various files with drastically different dates (and some things even different games!), it's very possible that certain gameplay elements are modified or broken because the real file was missing or from an earlier version of the game.
Both icculus and Jonothan have done a kickass job though, should be a fun year. |

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
When I hit a gong a melody plays! Why is that!?
I don't get that anymore since I extracted all the .voc files from SW.GRP. I hear a gong sound when I hit a gong now, GONG.VOC to be exact. I figured it out, I had Carger2000's Santa Wang on which comes with it's own GONG.VOC, which is a melody. |

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
means that shareware version had only 4 levels that ended up with serpent god getting away.
the full version has 2nd episode with tons more levels, and the "full version only" seems to be leftover description from the shareware version. if you have only shareware version (mind you the latest shareware is also uptodate with registered version and also is 1.2), then, well, bad luck - get a full commercial copy! simply try playing episode 2 right away - if you get a level when you start in a boat then you have registered version. |

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
The first episode is supposed to be really short - if you can play Code of Honor then it's all good and you are set to go

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
Ah! For some reason my mouse aiming doesn't work. Doesn't matter if I got it in toggle or momentary, I move the moust Wang moves forward back, etc. Using 'u' to switch mouse aimin on/off doesn't change that behaviour. Anyone else have this too?

Re: JFShadowWarrior is available
Sorry, for second post, forgot to add to favorites, and got some more thingies:
It seems 'u' does switch to mouse aiming, it only lasts a fraction of second and automatically switches back to mouse aiming off. Also, it seems starting up SW.exe makes it try to connect to the internet. Why's that? |
