Prey Servers
I tried to find some servers for prey but it seems there aren't any servers at all. not even pressing refresh helps at all. What gives? is this game pretty much dead?

I have played once with some people, but the portal element for online gaming is confusing.

The thing I don't understand is why neither 3DR nor Human Head nor T2 have an official server (or even gamespy for that matter).

They did. They did for the demo and they did for a while, 2K and Human Head I mean. They went under fast though. Since no one was playing online.

Oh I know they HAD official servers. Just surprised they didn't keep any running up to now. The game isn't THAT old. Heck, I can get servers on UT2k4 still.

It's a shame that there aren't at least 1 or 2 servers still running this game, I thought multiplayer was fun. You can still play it online on xbox 360 as there are more people playing it seems.

With pc though, can you link up directly with people if you know their IP address? Bit like the old days with direct connections. At least you could play against someone. xmrb2003x

I suppose you could set up a server yourself but you need to let people know about it.

Re: Prey Servers
well there might be servers online, the problem is that not only the official prey servers are offline but also the server that tells clients which servers are available. (Try it yourself: set up a server and see it having problems sending its heartbeat to preymaster.humanhead.com - that happens for every server out there and thus nobody knows about them.)
Connecting via IP works though.
